I lost a pregnancy at 7 weeks during the Christmas holidays. It was a very emotional time for me. We waited one month/cycle, and then started trying again. I guess luck was on our side - since we got a BFP right away! I even tested 4 days early and got a solid, dark second line! I'm so happy, but I'm even more nervous than ever. I have a healthy, amazing 18 mo son, so I keep hoping and praying that this pregnancy will work out and give us a second child. I had meningitis just before losing the last pregnancy - so at least I know that there was a reason for it. Now I'm fairly healthy...well, I have had a cold for two weeks, but no meningitis in sight (touch wood). Hi mama! I also lost a pregnancy at 7 weeks just before Christmas.
I have heard from a few people that your body is better able to 'keep' a pregnancy after a miscarriage.

Hello and congratulations!!

I also lost a pregnancy at 7 weeks, about five years ago. DS#1 was four at the time and we had been TTC for three years. It was so devastating. A year later, I was pregnant again. I was incredibly nervous, but ended up carrying a beautiful baby boy to term who is now 3

My miscarriage has overshadowed my two subsequent pregnancies with some fear and doubt. My one regret with DS#2 is that I didn't enjoy his pregnancy as much as I could have because I was too afraid to lose him. However, I've promised myself to enjoy this pregnancy to the fullest - morning sickness and all!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! You are NOT alone. I know how you are feeling; I m/c at 6 weeks in November. It is challenging to get past feeling nervous-for both of us .

I LOVED what Amanda had to say..I don't want to worry so much and enjoy this pregnancy. I pray that we both will have peace with our pregnancies throughout the coming months.

Hi Mandi,
I also had a m/c-mine was 12/21/04 about 7 weeks along as well. Right now I am typing as my 4 week old son slumbers in my lap. With my dd's pregnancy I felt so happy and unconcerned about m/C (never having experienced one) and with this last pregnancy I was much more cautious and had a lot more reservations about telling people I was pregnant and becoming invested in the pregnancy. I tried to live more in the moment with it and remember that I wasn't in control (nothing like having a m/c to let you know you're not in control!) It took me about 4 months before I felt comfortable and grounded in the pregnancy, but it all turned out well. Good luck to you!

I have also had two 7 week losses (8/04 and 8/05), and am cycling through the same range of emotions that you're describing. I'm ecstatic that we're pregnant again, yet I'm fretful and absolutely worried that something is going to go wrong and result in us losing yet another pregnancy (especially since I'm hyperthyroid, which I'm pretty sure is what caused the demise of my last two pregnancies). I had a very uneventful, surprise pregnancy with DS (3 years old) and never once had any first trimester fears with him. In a way, I think, I didn't even realize that there was anything to worry about, KWIM? Of course, now, every twinge, every little feeling...gives me more to worry about. I don't want to do the regular beta checks (I realized last time it made it worse for me to know and stress out over) and such, but I will as a way to know the way that things are going...but I'm really close to convincing myself that my little pumpkin is going to be in my arms in October of this year. And, so will YOURS!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy, Mandi!

I have suffered LOTS of m/c, back when I was alot younger, and not so healthy. 1 out of every 7 pg ends in m/c, so it isn't that uncommon *makes it no less painful, though*. Most happen so early on that no one even knows. I wish you lots of sticky vibes for this pg! Drink lots of water, keep in good communication w/your mw or ob, and rest alot. Most of all, try to relax and enjoy your pg!!!

I know exactly how you feel! I had a m/c at 11 weeks a few years ago and worried through my entire pregnancy with Sophie. I'm trying really hard not to worry too much this time because I do think I missed out on many of the joys of pregnancy. I thought for sure that now that we have one beautiful child I wouldn't worry as much (because obviously I can carry to term) but it doesn't seem to matter. I want this baby as desperately as I wanted Sophie, so the fear of losing him/her is just as accute. After talking to my mom about it (she had 2 miscarriarages) I have started to feel better. Like she said, really there's little we can do to prevent it (aside, of course, from taking extra special care of ourselves, getting good prenatal care, and sending lots of good, sticky vibes out), and there's got to be at least SOME power in envisioning a happy outcome. (Lots easier typed than done, but I'm trying! )
