Convince me to use family cloth

I'm considering trying family cloth. There are a couple of things that I'm wondering:

- How many would I need?
- How often would I have to wash?
- How do I convince DH?

Please share your experiences!

By family cloth, do you mean mama cloth?

I use 6 to 8 per day. I wash every 2 to 3 days with my cd. As for convincing dh why should it matter to him?

No, not mama cloth. Family cloth is using cloth wipes instead of toilet paper. So I WOULD need to convince DH.

I made myself around 100 wipes because we also use them for the baby and for cleaning up when the dog pees in the kitchen. I'm really anal about making sure I never run out so I could have gotten by with about half that. I only *need* to wash once or twice each week but I end up washing every other day with the diapers.

I made mine using two layers of flannel backed by one layer of stretch suede. They're serged and measure about 6" X 8". They started off 8" X 10" but I suck at sewing and they ended up smaller somehow. They're really soft.

Convincing your DH should be easy. Just don't buy any more TP and he won't have a choice. He'll probably love the cloth once he tries it.

In my opinion, you CAN'T convince dh. He thinks it's gross and won't even consider it, but even without him using it, we're still saving lots of money. There's a great thread on this here. I'll see if I can find it and post the link. Or you could do a search on MDC for family cloth or cloth TP.

We've only been using family cloth for a few days, but it's great. I just toss our *tissues* in the wash with our cloth diapers. We cut up a few of dh's older t-shirts for our beginning stash. Sooo soft!

Good luck with your adventure!

That's the way it is at our house too. I suspect we'll have to run out of TP (which DH is keeping a VERY close eye on to make sure that doesn't happen). Frankly, I'd like to keep TP on hand for guests (most of our guests couldn't fathom it). DH may never convert!
