Baby oil...

Okay, I tried to do a search on this, but the word "oil" is too common (and baby comes up waaay more often)...

Is baby oil bad? Is it bad to use on your skin or in diaper wipe solution? I mean, isn't it just mineral oil? Or, I guess, now that I'm typing this there's fragrance in it, isn't there? Does anyone else use baby oil or not use it and why?

Thanks!

Shannon

Okay, I just did a search on the web on "mineral oil" and found sites that say it's bad, and some that say it's not. I guess I'm still not as smart about natural products as I'd like to be...

Mineral oil isn't such a good thing for our bodies, and synthetic fragrances can cause all kinds of problems (or not, depending on how sensitive you are.) Remember that you DO absorb things through your skin- otherwise there wouldn't be any medication "patches."

Any vegetable oil can be used in place of mineral oil wherever you'd use baby oil. Almond oil is a nice choice (unless you're concerned about nut allergies.)

Thanks! I'll store that info away in my brain. I've been a part of MDC for almost a year learning about natural and organic products, and although I've learned so much already, I feel like I have SO MUCH to learn! Sometimes it's frustrating that I can be so dense about things!

I make my own out of either sweet almond oil or olive oil with lavender essential oil. It works great.

Oh and Shannon dense would be not asking at all. I am glad you are not willing to live blissfully ignorant. (((((HUGS)))))
