Anything to help very sore nipples (pregnant)?

I'm almost 6 1/2 months pregnant, have really no milk at all, and have a 2 1/2 year old who isn't giving up his milkies anytime soon. I hate to do it, but I try to not nurse him because it hurts so dang much right now ... only my nippples though and no other part of my breast. They aren't dry and they aren't cracked ... I take in a bunch of probiotics so I'm 99% sure it's not a thrush thing ... I'm thinking it's just the pregnancy, but is there anything to help ... I can not take 14 more weeks of grimacing each time he latches. Anything homeopathic? Anything herb or oil wise I can put on them to help ease the pain? Part of me would really like to temporarily wean him (I totally don't mind tandem nursing when the baby and my milk come), but he is bent on nursing (he's very stubborn!). Help?

Hello!
I am newly pregnant but my nipples have been pretty sore lately. I have been using Lansinoh and that seems to help a little. Hope others have some suggestions because I am curious as well. Congrats on your upcoming new arrival!!!

Bumping because I'm having the same problem
This past week or two my milk has really dried up, he doesn't gulp/swallow at all when he nurses anymore, I'm basically being a human binky now

I wouldn't mind it so much if it didn't hurt like every time he latched on!

I really wish he'd just decide to be done on his own, but he's quite insistant too....I just don't see that happening anytime soon.

One tip that I've been told is to put lanolin on before nursing to help with the friction.

Oh mamas, it's a tough position to be in! For some, the soreness goes away when you begin to make colostrum. For others (myself included) the pain doesn't subside until the new babe arrives. One thing that I tried to pay attention to was proper latch: wide mouth, taking in as much of the areola as possible. That helped some.

The thing that made me decide to take a pregnancy test when I got pregnant w/ my son was nipple soreness that didn't go away. When my milk dried up, I started limiting my dd (then 2.25 y.o.) to nursing at home only. I gradually weaned her down to 3 nursings a day before the baby was born, 1 a day after and then she quit on her own. Now she asks me to "nurse our baby" when he crys or is tired, etc. It's very cute & thoughtful.

Good luck mamas!
