I have a horrible tooth ache and I took percocet (ratio oxycocet) for the pain.
Is it ok for the baby to nurse?????

I didn't think about it when I couldn't even stand up and was puking from pain

Per Medications and Mother's Milk 2004

Percocet: L3 MODERATELY SAFE:
There are no controlled studies in breastfeeding women, however the risk of untoward effects to a breastfed infant is possible; or, controlled studies show only minimal non-threatening adverse effects. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant

Pediatirc concerns: None reported but observe for sedation.

Half life: 3-6 hrs.

Time from med being taken to when it's at peak power in your system: 1-2 hrs.

Don't worry, it should be fine. Percocet is what my midwives prescribed for me after my unplanned c/s. And I've taken it again to manage the pain of a herniated disk. I think it did cause my son to be drowsy though, so it could interfere with nursing if he's hard to rouse. Good luck! I hope your tooth feels better soon.
