Elizabeth on The View - AGAIN!

The View has been broadcasting from Las Vegas all week. Elizabeth said this morning that she misses her daughter so much that she's going to start breastfeeding again. Her exact words were, "she's going back to the boob."

Maybe we should send her an SNS and some info on relactation.

She misses her dd?

Do you mean she misses NURSING her dd?
Wow - I'm really shocked that the comment came for her mouth - but I think it's great that she sent the message that breastfeeding is such a bonding experience.

Away from baby for a week? Poor dear!

Well, The View women have been in Las Vegas all week and the baby is back home in New York with Dad or a sitter or whoever...I don't know. The baby is definitely NOT in Las Vegas with her mommy! She said she missed her so much that she was ready to start breastfeeding again.

Hmmmm...I didn't see it, but is it possible that the comment was meant in jest? That she's not serious, but used the "extreme" idea of making her daughter nurse again as a way of expressing how much she misses her? It also sounds like it feeds off of the idea that women only nurse their babies past a year due to their own emotional needs, not because it's what's best for the baby.

So while it would be cool for Elizabeth to truly have seen the light, I'm willing to bet that the underlying messages are actually sortof anti-BF because they rely on an understanding that it would be freaky weird for her to start BFing again.

I usually like to give the benefit of the doubt, but I guess I'm feeling snarky today.

I agree completley Jess!

I haven't seen the program, but from following the developments over the past many months, my understanding is that this would most likely be the case with the comment.

Maybe her formula endorsement deal fell through?

Nope, I saw her in an formula ad in a magazine in my peds office. She wasn't very prominent in the ad. She was blurry in the background of the baby and somewhere in the fine print it said that "Elizabeth Hasselback(sp?) and her baby use such and such formula"

Yeah, I saw that too. Something about how frugal her baby is for choosing bright beginnings and she's going to be a math genius or something to that extent because of the dha/ara. I'd have more details about the ad, but I :Puke on the page before I could finish reading it.

Too bad her baby isn't frugal enough to want FREE breastmilk.

I'm imaginging it was a sarcastic remark. Like, what could be the most outrageous statement I could make, about missing my baby? RELACTATION!!! HAHAHA!

I see it as her saying "if I was still tied down to a nursing baby, they couldn't make me go on week long trips"

Elizabeth's daughter has pneumonia right now, she mentioned it on TV.

I KNOW BF babies get pneumonia too, but one can wonder if she had BF for longer if she would have gotten it or if it would have been as bad, or if BF would have helped her through it right now...

In one study babies "who were not breast fed were 17 times more likely than those receiving breast milk alone to be admitted for pneumonia."

Hmmmm, I hate to kick a Mom when she's down, but I would love to email her that little bit of info..

I hope the baby recovers quickly, poor thing.
