I am lucky enough to have the wonderful Darling Diaper AIO pattern. (I have all of the other patterns too!). I am an "expert" making the fitted pockets, but I have a few questions about the AIO pattern for anyone that is willing to help me!
1. I want to make pocket fitted with this pattern. Do I still use 1/4 inch elastic or should I move up to 3/8 inch? I use an outer of woven cotton print or velour and an inner of velour or interlock. Only 2 layers of fabric total.
2. When I sew on 1/4 inch elastic, is it better to do a straight stitch or a zigzag stitch? It is so tiny, so would a zigzag stitch even work?
3. I made one already (when my darn sewing machine broke :-( ) and I used interlock for the inner and outer, side closing with snaps. I made a medium. The medium pocket fitted pattern diaper with knits fits my ds perfectly, but the medium AIO pattern diaper (with 2 knit fabrics) was too big in the waist (but soooo cute and will fit in a few months). I noticed the AIO is originally made an actual AIO (duh) with PUL outer and flannel inner. So no stretch. If I use stretchy knit fabrics where should I take away from the pattern to make it fit better? Just reduce the wing length?
4. Do you prefer side or front closure, snap or aplix? I have a boy if that makes any difference!
I love the fact this pattern is so trim between the legs. Once I have a sewing machine I am going to actually sew a AIO like I am supposed to. I just have to order some more PUL and get my sherpa I ordered from Diapercuts. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Darling Diaper patterns! Now I just need a working machine and a few bucks...
