anyone know how to reset the tension?

Ok- I'm going to bed and if someone can tell me how to do this by the time I get up then I'll try it, otherwise, i'll bring it to the shop in the morning.

I think this may solve the problem- I really haven't got any other ideas. If I sew just on two layers of flannel, the stitch only looks a little wonky, mostly the top tension looks a tiny bit off. But I tried sewing on a fleece/suedecloth T&T cover and it wouldn't put but maybe every fourth or fifth stitch through.

I don't know- maybe that won't fix it. Any ideas ladies?

BTW- I have tried resetting the timing, which got it to actually make some stitches and I totally cleaned out the bobbin area (wow that was nasty!)

I am lost w/o my sewing machine.

You've probably already brought it in by now, but I thought I'd post my experience. My machine works fine on any woven and tshirt knit (although I'm still having a bit of trouble with the double needle), but there are some fleeces that just won't work for some reason. I generally try loosening the foot pressure first, because having the fabric stretch under the foot seems to be a surefire way to have my machine skip stitches. In the end, I resorted to putting tissue paper on top and on the bottom in order to get 98% of the stitches to catch on some of my fleece things.

If the servicing works - do tell what was wrong. I figured it was a fundamental property of the fabric and the way my machine worked, so I've never tried to get it 'fixed'!

I did take it in because I am so frustrated, but no one had a chance to post a reply in that time anyway because the site was indexing for a while. Anyway, the tech said that it just needed a good tune up and so I'll get it back on Thursday. Man- what am I going to do w/o my sewing machine.

I am seriously at a loss.

Well- thanks everyone for the help in this thread and the other one- at least it should be good as new on Thursday!!

Ummm, get a serger. Then when one is broke down you have a back up "fix". LOL. Seriously, I'm sorry I couldn't help you more lady. Do you crochet? Knit? Will that help you out this week?

Yeah- I think a serger would be nice- maybe for Christmas. Actually I do have all the supplies to learn how to knit. I think I'll do that! Thanks!
