So I was at the mall Saturday...

I was wandering around with my friends and my DS when I stopped to point out a teeny-tiny adorable little baby to my DS. He was draped over his dad’s shoulder as they strolled through the mall next to the mom, who was pushing a stroller. I glanced in the stroller and saw the little boy’s twin sister (evidenced by blue sleeper and pink bow, respectively) with a thick layer of blankets over her holding up her bottle . These babies couldn’t have been more than a few weeks old. It just struck me as sad that the parents couldn’t even take the time to stop and feed their babies.

yeah, I don't get that. I can understand one person with 2 babies taking "shortcuts" out of necessity. But if both parents are there, why isn't one of them holding the baby with her bottle?

While I did bottlefeed my twins (I had them at 19 and didn't really know any better), I NEVER bottle propped. There is no excuse for that, especially not when both parents are present.

The way I figure the situation is that dad can't steer the stroller with one hand for some reason. Of course, in that case, why not just sit down somewhere to feed the baby? Or have mom hold and feed the hungry baby while dad pushs and chats with the not hungry baby? Or if it's just the awkwardness of the stroller and not a physical problem, dad could hold and feed the hungry baby, while mom carries the other baby and pushes the stroller. Unless neither of them can push the stroller one-handed, in which case they should sell it.

Another thing that got to me about that family, is that the dad seemed to be very "whatever" about holding the boy. He just had him kinda draped over his shoulder with one hand on him and was pretty much ignoring him. For all I know, he's a terrific dad, but I just got the impression that he was holding the kid because he HAD to, not because he WANTED to.
