I was so shocked, that I had to watch it again. And now. Damn I LOVE my my dish recorder.

Shoot gun shine......

Has anyone been buying the soundtracks? I have the first three seasons... amazing music. I "steal" my husbands STi with the booming stereo to kisten to them. (which I did for everything I had to go do yesterday)

I think it is out of order.... I have no memory of Janice being pregnant.

How long do we have to keep mum about the characters involved? I think it's pretty obvious in this thread at this point anyway.

I just saw a MAKING OF that I taped yesterday.....and the wardrobe guy was goign thru clothes and showed everyones black suits that were all together in one spot....then said ......"oops, looks like theres a funeral..."

He DID call 911......even though no one answered, I bet they come out bc someone dialed and the phone is still not hung up.

That was wierd seeing adriannas ghost in Carmellas dream. Is she really that naive not to figure it out???

Both dh and I were just completely shocked last night! We both sat open mouthed once the credits started rolling for at least a minute.

I have to admit I was waiting for the scenes from next week's episode to confirm whether or not the person would be alive, so it's no wonder they didnt have scenes. I bet I wasn't the only one thinking that.

It seemed like there were some self aware references to writing the show or something. I cant remember what they said, but I was thinking, how very clever......

I have to watch the episode again, I had a hard time concentrating on the Burroughs reading at the beginning and watching the characters and catching up with them, registering everything that had happened with them since last season.

I definitely noted the breastfeeding, very nice to see that. HBO seems pretty aware of that.

Cant wait for next week!!!!!!!!!

yeah! i agree with moonjelly!

the lucky one, i meant that last nights episode jumped ahead in time (2+ years?) which sopranos usually doesn't do, so maybe last nights episode is at the end of the series and the rest of this season with catch us up to that point. does that make more sense? is that what confused you?

i don't subscribe to this theory, however, honestly seems too gimmicky. plus the rest of the episode wasn't very end-y.

i don't think that 'the victim' (yeah, this is annoying. if you don't know. quit reading. ) will survive the ended of the series. i think if he did, it would have to be very well wrapped up or there would be unending calls of encore.

i was not surprised that janice was bf-ing because...
1. janice=hippie freak. hippie freak=extended bf-ing. (at least in this world. )
2. you know that carmela didn't bf, and janice would live to do anything that would make her look better than carmela.
3. janice is totally self-centered, and ebf brings her more attention.

Okay, here is the quote I was thinking of

The first few moments of the show, which at first seemed disjointed, may offer some clues. It opened with an FBI agent reciting one of HL Mencken’s more famous lines — “Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public” — and another throwing up immediately afterwards. Point taken.

Oh, and just on a related sidenote, something HBO always does drives me crazy. I'm probably totally alone on this, but it irks me that they show footage of the premiere party HBO throws with all of the actors out of character, smiling and posing for cameras with their IRL significant others. I mean, of course we all know that James Gandolfini isn't really Tony Soprano (the victim-ha!), but I for one don't want to see him smiling and laughing holding a glass of champagne 10 seconds before the show starts. Ya know?

Huh. I never really thought of Janice as a hippie freak.

I can't wait till next Sunday and I'll probably rewatch last night's episode tonight.

Yeah, remember when Janice changed her name to Parvati and didnt she live on a commune or ashram or something like that too? There's more to it, but I can't really remember exactly what.

Janice is crunchy. Tony has made fun of her for it in the past. I think it's totally believeable that she would breastfeed. As I said in the advocacy forum, if anything it gives her an excuse to sit on the couch all day!

They always start the new season with time having passed normally. As if it was passing while we weren't watching for the past two years. I actually really like when shows do this. It gives that "moment in time" sort of feel. Plus, the viewer gets to try to figure out what has happened and "catch up" with the charcaters and what is going on in their lives this year. In fact, I think they were much more heavy-handed with it this time. At the start of the fifth season, I don't recall as detailed or lengthy of a montage, but I could be wrong.

I think the writing is excellent and I love this show.

I liked that they showed the breastfeeding, extended at that... but the look on Janice's face during the breastfeeding scene wasn't very loving. I immediately thought, oh she's hating on this. I'm thinking she had the baby to keep Bobby and breastfeeding was only being done to keep up her "hippy" persona, but the look on her face showed the true Janice.

I think Silvo and Vito were playing Eugene when they told him Tony said "no" to the Florida move. The way Silvo told Gene it wouldn't do any good to talk to Tony and then Vito was there talking about how he could be next in line if something were to happen to Tony. I think they both want Tony dead and we're trying to prime Gene to be the guy to do it.

I loved the in when Carmella was put in her place by Big Pussy's wife. Carmella was showing off her car that Tony bought, and then Pussy's wife has an equally nice car that she bought herself. It's the independence Carm wants but she just can't give up the material things (expensive Sushi?!!?)

That's an interesting theory on Junior. He did have the sense to stash the gun under the bed.

I can't wait until next week.

Interesting theory. It hadn't occured to me, but it makes total sense.

Carmella did breastfeed. It was mentioned in the first season by Adrianna, who says she doesn't want to end up like Carmella, "at home, breastfeeding a couple of brats". Very appropriate for Carmella as well, as she would like to be seen as "Madonna with child" (her Catholicism is totally for show).
The Janice-with-a-baby thing makes no sense. If you follow the timeline, she is way too old. In one of the flashbacks, Tony is watching his father cut off Mr. Satriale's finger. He's 11 at the time. It's clearly the early to mid-60's, which would make Tony 50, at least. Janice is older, by at least 2 years.
Yes, I have thought about this an awful lot

Me too!!!!

I don't think Junior's faking it and I don't think they are mixing up the chronilogical order of the show.

Doesn't Janice also have an older child (son, I think) who is estranged from her?
and is meadow still engaged? seems like a long engagement!

Okay, but what if what you saw was really the LAST episode, and the rest of this season will be the chain of events leading up TO it?

What about that?

Oooooooh. I like it. Very much.

Another thought -- perhaps Junior really is faking it -- wouldn't he have shot an intrudor in the head, or the chest? It's not like he hasn't used a gun before...

Maybe he aimed for the stomach so that Tony would have a good chance of survival. And yes, the closet thing could be fear and a tinge of remorse.

I am spending way too much time thinking about this show -- especially for an anti-TV person (except for the Sopranos). :

So, I thought I saw someone mention that I would be on again last night, but it wasn't. Don't they usually run it on Sun, Wed, and Sat?
