I'm not sure if this was answered already, but the brilliant ending was this: Claire is driving to New York and while she is driving they had this amazing song playing and they are showing glimpses of what happens to everyone in the future: I mean way into the future. They show how every single main character dies! And they last scene is Claire old in her bed and then she closes her eyes and passes away. She lived until 102 years old. What was amazing is that no questions got unanswered. We knew how EVERYTHING ended.

Yeah, but see, an ending like that makes sense for that show. It would not be an appropriate ending for The Sopranos.

Meaning he wasn't trying to say FU to the viewers or try to piss them off intentionally, which is what many people are claiming.

Well I personally thought it was a great, well thought out ending and I don't think anything they have him quoted as saying would mean otherwise.

But I agree that it doesn't matter much at this point - I can now focus on Entourage instead.

And, seeing as no previous episodes ended in mid-sentence like that, neither was the Sopranos finale. If you're going to pull David Lynch tricks, you should probably, you know, be David Lynch.

Whether you believe Tony's life goes on unchanging, or whether you believe it ends in an instant, the last scene, and for that matter the episode as a whole, works either way.

The big "clue" seems to be the flashback about the conversation between Tony and Bobby about it just going black. Personally, while it can definitely mean Tony was whacked, I like the idea of the viewer being "whacked" from the series. JMHO.
