Let's Brag About Our Chunky Exclusively Breastfed Babies: My 4 wk old is 14 lbs!

Let's talk about big babies and how great our bodies do nourishing them-yay!

I'll go:

My baby was 10 lbs 6 oz at birth (at home!) on 1/28/06. Today is 2/27 and he is 14 pounds in only four weeks! The nurse asked me timidly, "So, um, is he having breastmilk AND formula?"

I got to say, "Nope! Exclusively breastfed!"

Of course, I am feeling like I have enough milk for two babies-overabundance of milk-and I can't quite put my finger on what it is I seem to crave all day long while I am grazing away all day. Any ideas?

Brag to me, too, about your chunky babies!

Peace,

It makes me especially happy to share with folks in the world who just don't think that a veggie/vegan woman can produce chunky babies. This is my 2nd child whom I've birthed after a veggie/nearly vegan pregnancy who has reached 17lbs. by his 3month b-day.

(of course sweet, skinny munchkins are fabulous too, & my 1st was one. I called her my little french fry all the time- because she was shaped like one! )

(Yes, the little string beans are particulalrly cute, too!)

Good for you for making that chunky vegatarian baby!

People FREAK when I tell them my 10lb/6oz-er was born at home!

Says the mama of the 22 lb. 2 yr 5mo. exclusively bf from 5wks until 7 mo., still-bf'ing, weighed like 16 lb. something at a yr. DD.

But seriously, those chubby bf babes are totally adorable!

My younger dd is my chunky one! She was 9lbs 1oz at birth and 18.5 pounds at 4 months, 21.5 pounds at 6 months She is now 20 months, and is still nursing (not exclusively anymore) and weighs 27 pounds

Michael was born 7 lbs, 11 oz, after a "GD" pregnancy. He had complications and was sent to NICU. He lost 8 oz in one day, because they wouldn't let me feed him. When I was finally able to feed him, he gained 15 oz in ONE WEEK!!!! He is now 9 weeks and 12 pounds. He is in the 75 % for his age group (at 6 weeks) and 90% for height . They told me I was going to starve him, that he would need formula--this baby will NEVER get formula while I am able to feed him

My girl was born weighing 7lbs 6oz, was 10lbs at three weeks and 15lbs by 3 months. Now at almost 15 months, she's about 27 or 28lbs. Everyone who asks her age is surprised she's only 15 months. They all seem to think she's two!

DD was born 4 weeks early at 6lbs. 4ozs.

At 3 months, she was 12lbs,
At 5 months, she was 16lbs.
And at 9 months, she is 20lbs. She is just now starting to get taller and "thin" out a bit. And she's more interested in food.

dd is 10 months, 22 lbs EBF chunk all the way! (except for maybe a tsp. of solids 2-3 x/week!)

I've got one too. At six months she was 28 inches and 22.1 pounds. Still only eating breastmilk AND I'm a vegetarian.

I'll throw my babe in here too...my little chunker is now a walking talking busy 23.5 month old who nurses alot still, nurses to sleep and to nap....and we're at the wondrous stage where she now asks for which breast she prefers "mama, uther booby pleeeeeese?" 4 times over and over switching sides in a 3 min session! She demands it when ready for bed "mama booby sleep now pleeeeeeeeeeeease!" ....she was exclusively BF until about 13 months when she finally started eating solids (yes they can survive on BM alone LOL) and now eats (honestly) everything you place in front of her and then some! No signs of weaning.....I have my weary days as she is high needs but in the end , as my dh says, "you're not ready to wean her". She is about 23 lbs give or take.

My now 6 yr old nursed to 26 months and is my skinny picky eater now so I am relishing this time with the babe...I know one day she'll probably turn her nose at food at some point.

My DD is 5.5 months and is 16 lbs and 15 oz. She was 9 lbs 2 oz at birth. She is absolutely beautiful and pretty darn chunky. She was pretty skinny when she was born. I'm amazed when I look at her. She loves her mama's milk! She is still exclusively breast fed even though she is showing readiness for solids.
