What type of thread does everyone use? I am sure cotton thread would cause leaks. The Nylon thread seems so heavy and hard to work with. Can you use wooly nylon in a regular sewing machine? I know you can use it on a serger.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I use Gutterman's 100% polyester. It is carried at JoAnn's and they run it on sale for 40-50% off pretty often - which is a good time to stock up. There are a couple other brands (Moenneke??) that also work well. Some people use Maxi-Lock 100% serger thread to cut costs, but that does not work well on all sewing machines, so you might try it on your machine before buying a lot of it for that purpose. Cotton thread tends to break (and wick) more, but some have used it with wool (Kari mom) without wicking. Also, you want quality. Especially on diapers that will go through so much use and washing.
No, wooly nylon does not work as well on sewing machines. If you wanted to try it in the bobbin, you'd have to adjust the tension on the bobbin case and *THEN* you would have to adjust it back again! That is the part that has kept me from ever trying it in my machine. Too many bad memories of bobbin cases with the wrong tension as a child...
