For the LOVE of sergers!

Okay so I have not made a diaper or anything with it yet. LOL BUT I watched the video just now and played aroung practicing and getting the tension just right for the flannel scrap left over from wipes I sewed on the regular machine. (was a day to 2 before buying the serger) Anyway I practiced and made a circle and a wing tab shaped thing and straight lines etc. I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!! I LOVE IT!!! I am getting some fabric tomorrow to make my first ever diaper I don't count the prefitted I goofed up on so bad. LOL My mom a sewing expert was rather proud of it though for a first attempt. It's usable if I pin it. So I now think I really did need a serger!!! But now for Christmas I may ask for an embroidery machine-it's too early to try and get one now. OR I would

It is fun, isn't it? I had to take my serger back today. After about a dozen times of rethreading, I still had no chain. I could see what the problem was, but no amount of rethreading was helping. I called White & they said it sounded like a technical problem & to return it. So I (sadly) did & reordered another one. It was very sad for me b/c I was having so much FUN with it!! I too am thinking about an embroidery machione for Christmas, though it's too early to mention it now.

Was yours the White 1600? I hear it jumps time a lot.

Yes. What is jumping time? After I rethreaded, when I turned the handwheel or serged, the lower loop thread would not stay above the upper looper. Plus, some of the thread was coming out of the thread guides and I was having a bunch of thread under the feed dogs. I played with the tension too, but it didn't help.

I am so jealous! Mine is still sitting on the desk, unused I can't seem to figure it out

For some reason the thread is all in right, but when I sew, the thread doesn't do anything?!

Aaahhh! I'm glad you've got the hang of it!

mum2be - take out all the threads & thread it again!!!! 99% of the time, if I have a prob., it's solved by completely rethreading the machine. Even if I follow w/ my eyes each thread & it all looks good, but doesn't sew properly, I cut the threads, pull them & start anew & by golly, it WORKS! Don't know why that is, but try it.

SHB - you do, you do need a serger. Go now. . . J/K! Not advocating you spending money you don't have, but man do I love mine, even w/ all the heartache it causes. When I was at my class learning how to use it, the instructor said, you will love it so much b/c it makes things go sew much faster that you will sew more often & it's true! I do sew more b/c the serger makes some things go so much faster & look neater too.
