Is this good stuff?

Are there other places to get good hemp? I heard it was super super absorbant, and I want to try it for some nighttime dipes.
Thanks!!

Yep, hemp french terry is great stuff. Most of the diapers I make are made with hemp fleece (Hemp fleece is the same fabric except the loops are cut so it's soft and fuzzy). I use 2 full body layers w/external soakers (it takes a long time to dry w/sewn soakers). When ds was small (and peed tiny amounts all day long) I could get away with using the 2 layer diaper w/out a soaker during the day. It's that absorbant! (But now he pees super soaker amounts less frequently, so I need a soaker)

That looks like a decent price. Check shipping though, because it's heavy. Hemp fleece weighs almost a lb per yard w/packaging.

And make sure you get enough. It shrinks ALOT. You'll love it for night dipes and doublers so get at least 2-3 yards. AND PREWASH TWICE!

I love hemp...

That looks like a decent price. About the only way you would get a better price would be from a coop. You have to wait longer, but the prices are better most of the time.

If the seller ships in a flat rate USPS box, you can fit 5 yds hemp fleece (and I figure hemp french terry) into a box. A flate rate USPS box is $8.10 for shipping.

Oh, and I second the shrinkage... and there's alot of fuzz in the dryer. Check it at least twice per dryer cycle to clean the lint out.

It's good for making mama pads, too.

You can expect to lose 5-6 inches per yard after shrinkage. I do like this stuff but I prefer Organic cotton fleece

FYI, allnaturalfabrics co-op has hemp french terry database open, and the fabric is already there - so if you put your name in the database, you get it right away. Unless you're like me and have 3 other fabric orders in that will be combined.

It's $5.50/yd through the co-op, which is a typical co-op price. The typical retail price is about $8/yd, although I've seen it as low as $7/yd, I think. I love hemp french terry and use it for diepers and mama pads. Great stuff.

OHH,well since a kind soul on here posted a link to
www.babeco.co.uk

yes,a UK supplier,(falls over and faints!) I just ordered some hemp fleece.
I figured I would start to make my mediums with some of it.
Or at least external soakers for my mediums,I am very giddy about it indeed!

I just wanted to add that you can get hemp remnants at Hemp Traders: http://www.hemptraders.com/index.shtml
Click on "Special Deals and Sales" and then go down to "knit hemp scraps". They cost $4.00 per pound. I've never tried it myself, but other people who have tried it say that it is all good diaper fabric.
