Cleaned out the "junk" and utensil drawers in the kitchen. I did these not too long ago so they weren't too bad. Got rid of another 28 items.

12+28 = 40

Hoping to work on my closet this week. Should get lots of items from there.

I just started decluttering today and figured I should jump into this thread to keep me motivated.
I cleaned out our hallway closet, shoe closet and a couple of drawers and got rid of a few trashbags full of things, but I wasn't keeping track so I will set my goal at 150 and start counting from here on out.....
I am slowly working on this. I am up to 149 but am having a much harder time letting go of things this month for some reason. Trying to get to the bottom of that...
Went through my entire desk area today and got rid of a ton of paper, old tax returns, bills etc. I didn't really count, but there had to easily be over 100 pieces of paper. But, since I'd like to stay motivated I am only going to count it as 50 toward my total.

I am so happy to have gotten this stuff cleaned up. I have been planning on doing it forever

40+50 = 90

I'll join! I haven't decluttered in ages but desperately need to! I've already got a good head start this month. I'm going to set my goal to 500! So far I have gotten rid of:

1. a plastc refrigerator, stove and bag of plastic food and utensils that have been sitting on the front porch getting dirty. (that's probably about 22 items)
2. 5 boxes of books sold to the used bookstore and donated to goodwill!! (I'm guessing about 100 books?)
3. a 2-drawer metal filing cabinet gone to Freecycle
4. a red plastic stool gone to Freecycle
5. some random toys donated to goodwill (about 20 items)
6. a box of clothes to goodwill (about 5-6 items)
7. I threw out a bunch of old mail and papers (about 100 items)

That brings me to about 250!

Checking in...

Today I cleaned out my bathroom and threw out 2 old toothbrushes (should actually have saved for cleaning...oops), a lotion I will never use and a storage basket that things had been spilled in and was yucky. I also returned 2 shirts I've had of my sisters and threw out an empty pizza box that has been in my garbage closet forever!!

It's a start.

Total: 7
Goal: 150

I got inspired sitting in the car with a sleeping baby while dh took older ds in for a haircut. Threw out all the garbage and brought in all the random toys and winter gear. Carried the enthusiasm over into the house and donated 3 garbage bags full of clothes and one full of toys. Next up is under the sink.

i got another 18 out of my house today (more clothes). it's great - my neighbor keeps taking everything to use herself, so i just call her and she comes to get my bags the minute i'm done decluttering. next major target area: toys that have been in storage for rotating. ugh. not looking forward to this part.

Nothing new to report -- DD's first birthday is this week, so we've been focusing on other things...

However, I have an appointment with the food pantry (food, baby items and personal products) and we're going to schedule a garage sale for the end of the month

i went through most of ds's toys today - giving the good stuff to a friend's daughter for her birthday (they are asking for recycled gifts only). i also am giving her daughter some of my jewelry for dress-up.

today's total: 93 items. i'm cloes to my 300 goal, so will up that to 400. going through office supplies next. then on to old magazines.

bs"d

I recycled an old phone book. I know there was something else, but I can't think of what it was... oh, well.

Total: 28.

I got rid of 2 big bags of clothes today...232 items! I then organized everything left into seasons so I can get ready to list on ebay. There are about 5 rubbermaid bins left...still not ready to just chuck them yet! And that's not even counting the stuff I'm saving for hand-me-downs. That brings me to 482!

Okay, more to add...

an old sock with no match was tossed, along with a broken closet organizer, 2 pairs of ripped up jeans, a stained onesie, and an AOL trial cd.
I also threw away a bunch of papers but to stay motivated I'll only count them as 5.

Total: 18
Goal: 150

Speaking of birthdays, we have a bunch of gifts to return this week (wrong size, duplicates, just plain ugly ) Anyway, I think I'm going to count each item as .5 since they are new to our house this month anyway.

DH shredded a HUGE pile of papers - I'm counting it as 10 items. DD doesn't like the noise, so he shreds when we're not around

115 + 10 = 125

(Goal = 200)

Thanks! It really does feel good! Yesterday I got rid of 7 big heavy coats! I live in So. Cal and you really only need one coat here. Now I'm up to 505 items! I think I need to raise my goal!
