Runway Moms

Has anybody else watched this show? It is surprisingly, a great alternative to either Baby Story or Bringing Home Baby. It is all about a modeling agency that focuses on pregnant and nursing moms, and each show follows 1 model/mom and her story. I've watched a bunch of episodes, and so far every single mom says she will nurse, and only 1 (I think) has not made it a go. They are pretty much all focused on having natural birth (1 woman made it through 40 hours of pretty active labor without an pain medication) and while I haven't seen anyone cosleeping, there are a ton of bassinets/co sleepers in the mom's rooms.

I wouldn't have expected to see so much AP stuff on this show, it's really great. Its on Discovery Health.

I love that show!

They also have the breastfeeding ads they shoot for! I recagnise one mom in the motherwear catolog that I got the other day!

I wish I knew how to get into that kind of modeling career! I have no Idea how to go about it though I tried finding them online...Hum.....

That is a great show!

Most of the time when I think of models, I think of vain women, and they are....but they are willing to do what is right for their babies by BFing!

I have heard so many "ave" women say that they can't BF because it will stretch out their breasts. Any yet here are these women depend upon their bodies for their livelihood and are willing to BF!

probably because they're hoping it will make them lose the weight sooner! but yes, I have noticed it is a refreshing alternative to the mainstream shows- though the owner of the company has made a few comments that as a SAHM I've tried not to be offended by. (like talking about how much she respects working moms- I do too!!- but the way she was saying it made it pretty clear her feelings were strong on that issue, maybe I was being overly sensitive.)
I felt bad for the girl that the bf'ing didn't work out for- it seemed it was a simple issue and with the right support could have been fixed, but she wasn't very upset about it. oh well.

I've also seen this show and really enjoyed it! I was visiting my parents' and they have a million and one cable channels so I got to see it ... (we don't have that many channels in our house).

I like that show too! I've been a model since I was a teen, and I modeled throughout my pregnancy (I actually got more work than ever while preg., LOL)... I'd love to go back to work but I can't do anything besides mom magazines- which are few and far between. The clients for non-mom related products literally will not hire a nursing mom because of the leaking (on their clothes), and "you will not get a break for pumping", so I've been told by my agency... So, it's already a big commitment- but in this business, you're out of work until you wean... which I'm not doing anytime soon.

Makes me wish we had cable or satellite! That sounds like a really great program! I was constantly yelling at BabyStory mamas! hahaha

Not all models are the same. I model and I am as AP/ NFL as they come.

Avocado - I've modelled while breastfeeding. There comes a point where you don't leak at all anymore and nobody even thinks you might be nursing 'still'.
