Along with Sarah's bump, I'm going to post the letter I just sent out to current members so any one wanting to join can read it to:
"Dear members of MDC Knits,
Now that we have a pretty sizeable membership (31 and counting), we'd like to officially welcome you to the blog ring and give you a few reminders of the ring guidelines.
We formed this ring so that we could keep up to date with other Yarn Crafter's projects. In order to do this, we need our members to do two things:
1. Include text and/or photos related to yarn crafts - updates, questions, helpful hints, cool websites, patterns, yarn sales, etc. are all great!
2. Update their blogs at least monthly, preferably twice a month or more. No one wants to keep looking at the same entry over and over and everyone likes to know what you are working on now! So please post often, even if it's short or you only have time to upload a few photos.
We expect all active members to do these two simple things. If you are unable to due to unforseen circumstances, please let us know. If we notice that you aren't doing them, we'll send you a nice e-mail reminder. If you still don't, we'll have to remove you from the group. We don't want to have to do that - we want as many members as we can get, as we all learn from and support each other.
We recognize that some of you are new to the blogging/HTML world, and it can be pretty intimidating. Please don't hesitate to e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
and we'll either help you or point you in the right direction to help yourself. We have used several helpful HTML tutorials and will be posting links to them on the MDC Knits Homepage, so check them out!
I went through the ring today, which had been originally set to random by mistake. It is now set to go from lowest to highest number, so if your ring ID is 3 and I click "next", I should see the blog that has ring ID 4. All of you have the correct buttons and code but some of you still have the default ring ID, which is 2. That's Sarah's ID, and while we love her blog (Naptime Musings), seeing it 5 times during the same ring sort of defeats the purpose, especially when it means that you can't keep going in the ring. If you are having trouble figuring out what your ID is, or how to change it, let us know. In the meantime, we'll send out an e-mail to those who don't have it correctly.
Most of us are using Blogger, so the ring code to click through the ring is on every page. There are some users using Live Journal and to keep going when you reach their pages, click on "user info" to find the button and text.
Again, thank you for joining, and don't hestitate to contact us if you need anything!"
