Many two-year-olds in Ontario fall behind in their vaccination schedules, even though they often visit their doctor, a new study suggests.

"Despite universal access to primary care services, rates of complete immunization coverage among two-year-old children in Ontario are low," the researchers concluded after looking at immunization rates of 101,570 infants born in urban areas in the province between July 1, 1997, and June 31, 1998.

The study appears in the March issue of the journal Pediatrics.
