which carrier to take with me tomorrow?

for those of you still awake, dh has a dr. appt. tomorrow and we have to go with him (die to sedative, etc.).
so...what do i take? the beautiful mai tai i just got from another DDDC mama...my moby wrap...my hot sling, or my maya wrap (i dont think i want to take that one, even though its the easiest and the best to nurse in...the others are just so much prettier!).
so, what do you think?
we will be in a hospital (yuck!) for several hours. i am thinking of not taking the hotsling but its so pretty..sometimes i think he feels squished in it but he sleeps well in it...it also makes me feel fat b/c its so form fitting and doesnt cover anything (kwim?)

gosh... such decisions!!!!!

i would probably go for a sling over the mei tai simply for easy in-and-out with e. i my mt, but i find it more practical when i know lucy will stay in there for a long time (aka a walk -- she always takes the best snoozes on our walks in the mt ... or, this week we've been going to daily mass at noon and we'll walk to church -- probably six/seven blocks away -- and she'll fall asleep on the walk there, sleep through mass, then sleep on the way home!) ... anyway... for other times that i know i won't be constantly moving and/or walking, i take a ring sling. it's just easier to put on, take off, put babe in, take babe out, etc.

but i only have a ring sling and a mt, so.. that's all i have to go by!!

(wait... i *do* have a wrap... i just haven't busted it out yet!! but, i feel the same about the wrap as i do the mt... it just takes a bit more work sometimes)

When my little one was younger we spent too many hours to count in the hospital with my Dad...I kept him in a Mei Tai...I felt like I could get him nice and deep in the carrier and always had the breast available...he was super young at the time and I was paranoid about what scary germs he would be exposed to...Also when I kept him nice and deep in a MT others seemed less likely to want to touch him...which always freaks me out but even more so in such a germ infested environment

a few considerations:
with your MT is he froggy legs or do his feet hang down? if they hang down, it might be hard for you to sit down with him in it which would make waiting in a waiting room awful. LOL
nursing: you probably will want to nurse him at some point during the trip, so my gut would tell me to take the one that makes that the easiest...even though it's not the prettiest.

honestly, i'd probably take the maya AND the mei tai or moby wrap. something two shouldered for walking down the halls, etc...and your maya for when you want to nurse.

aaaand you've probably already left so this is pointless. LOL

Yes, this is probably extra pointless for me to add my two cents now too...but I won't let that stop me. I would take the Maya Wrap and the MT. Maya for practicality and MT for vanity. You can always stuff the unused one into a diaper bag pocket.

So, that said - when you get back, tell us what you did....

you can nurse in a wrap, easily. i ONLY have one carrier the wrap i made (dh is supposed to buy me a solar veil sling for my birthday but we have no money right now so i am not bringing it up)and i only know one way to tie it as i am to lazy to look up and learn a new way (although dd is starting to fuss in the popsition i have her in sometimes) so the position is center near belly button, wraop it behind you, cross it, bring it over the shoulders, cross it again and bring it under the original center section. wrap it behind you at the waist and tie it.

did you all understand that???

so normally i slide her in under the cross section and bring up the bootom section.
well when i nurse i lay herhorizontal slide her underneath the diaganol sectionthatis slanting towards my hip on her head side. i spread that out and pull the bottom section up over her feet and body. all i have to do is put my arm under her head. (this is the only way she will nurse if i am standing up)

it would be easier to show you a picture but alas my computer won't let me upload any of them to my computer.

i hate my brokea$$ computer

hehehe...this is exactly what i did. i took the HS and the MT. I used the MT at the appt. and it was wonderful..he loved being in it. i do have some issues about the way the top of it goes around his back..it seems a bit lose. i may take a pix soon and post in another thread.

i took the HS b/c i figured i may need a pouch. i didn't use it at the hospital but did use it during lunch (the HS is much easier to clean than the MT..its brand new to me and i didnt want to have to wash it).

so....i couldnt decide on which one to take...so i took the 2 prettiest ones!!

and...dh did really well w/ his "procedure".
