Does your baby-to-be have a nickname?

Since we don't find out the sex beforehand, we usually nickname the baby.

Our first baby was nicknamed "LandLand" (looong story, something to do with my husband's nickname regarding the absent minded-professor).

Second baby was just "Baby in the belly--in the great BIG belly" (long and not too creative)!

This one we've been calling "The Shrimp". Though driving to the airport in Hawaii yesterday my husband asked how "Shrimpola" was doing...hmmm, maybe he actually thinks it's a girl too!

DD got her nickname at the 20 week sonogram - she just *looked* like a squid, so that's what we called her. I'm guessing it'll happen the same way this time. I'm ready - I'm tired of talking about "The Baby" all the time.

We've been calling ours Tadpole since day 1. It just fits.

We have been calling ours Croissant. I think it is going to stick for a LONG time, like into his/her teen years. It is appropriate since it is baking in the oven.
To be vulgar, my husband likes to call it little jerk-off (it was an ivf baby so literally IS the result of that) but he won't be doing that once the baby can hear! I think he just likes my reaction of shock everytime. :

We only use our nickname when we are alone, definately not around 4yo dd who tends to repeat lots of stuff. Well, her (4yo) nickname is Squirt because she was such a little Squirt when she was born and now somehow this baby is getting called Splat. The other day I actually caught myself saying to dh that if he got a new job the one thing I really wanted was to get Squirt and Splat a big wooden swingset climber thingy. I couldn't believe that I actually said that.

In utero, my dd was Boudreaux (dh is Cajun) and my ds was Dobby (after the house elf).

We just refere to it as the baby.. at least for a few more weeks than the baby gets a name.

My best friend calls the baby Bubbish, we were shopping and I couldn't read.. now I get tormented..

Ours is "Barp" - a combination of the boy and girl names we have at the top of the list. DD was Sprog and then Sproglette. She even had a website!

DS was sweet pea and we started calling this one peanut. Not very creative, I know. I just don't have the brain power for creativity when I am pregnant! lol

My 16 year old cousin asked (joking) if we would name the baby Riboflavin- which is totally something I would have said when I was 16! I joked back to her that that name might be a bit rough on the playground, but it might make a good "fetal name".

So we've sort of been calling this baby Ribo- but it's just not all that catchy or endearing. I wonder if something else will take hold as Ribo becomes bigger & more real?

Our first DD's nickname is "cakey" as in sweet-cakes. So, the dimunitive is cupcake. I don't think it'll stick beyond birth ... but its nice now. We do know it's a girl but we're slow on names.

I refer to this one as little bug, sometimes. (I call the kids snugglebug or wigglebug sometimes . . . don't know how the bug thing started, but I kinda like it.) But with talking to DH or DSs it's always the baby.

Hope to find out gender in a week and a half, and then I'm not sure what we'll call him/her. We have a girl's name . . . but we were told our first was a girl, and she turned out to be a he! So, I'm thinking that just in case doc is wrong, how confusing will that be for my 3.5 yo to be talking about his baby sister for the next 5 months and calling her by name, only to have us bring home a baby brother instead? So, I probably won't call him/her by name (if it's a boy, that can only happen if we ever find a boy's name we both like) to my kids. But I probably will with DH and family and friends. I don't know. I'm a little gun-shy on commiting to a gender once it's been pronounced. Of course, I'm going to interrogate doc as to his success rate of correctly identifying gender on ultrasound! Especially if he tells me it's a girl!

That's hilarious -- when my dad emailed his family to announce the pregnancy, he jokingly proposed a naming contest, and got several joking answers, one of which was Boudreaux. And we are not Cajun! I have no idea where this cousin came up with it. Is there some baby-related meaning to Boudreaux or is this just a weird coincidence?

no nickname yet! We called the first one Zethan after a mix of our two names, Zuri and Ethan. SInce we don't have two names yet, no nickname for baby #2! I loved all the other ones people posted!
