hey there. i was just wondering, as a fellow attorney, are you working now or are you staying at home with kiddos? i just dont know any other attorneys that are SAHM's right now and i would like to get your perspective if you are staying home for awhile.

Hey mama - I lost my job in July. I had previously been thinking of leaving the practice of law to do social work (I did the MSW/JD program at Penn) but I really wanted to do school counseling. Since I was not getting a job as pregnant as I was, I took the opportunity to apply to a counseling program. I'm now taking classes 2 nights/week and will be certified after next spring. If we need $$ I may work for a temp agency, but even they require 35 billable hours a week and I just don't think it's reasonable for me to do. I honestly seriously doubt I'll work as a lawyer again.

Yeah, and I keep having thoughts in the back of my mind of whether it would be realistic to do a Ph.D. part-time once I go back to work. I probably won't but it's a nice thought.

yeh, i would love to go back to school too. I came to Boston to get my Master's in tax law after law school. i like tax law but would like to do something different too. i just always worry about taking this much time off (ive been SAHM for a little over a year now).

i would love to get my PhD in political science (thats my undergrad) and teach!

no clue. i had this vision of me hanging out in coffee houses talking about politics and social justice and going to seminars...which i did for like...the first 2 years. but then it gets friggin old. and i got friggin old. and had kids.

so now i clean spit up and change diapers and spend my days on playgrounds talking about poop consistency and sippy cups. very different lifestyle. LOL
