Ok, Im at my wits end with my tongue LOL I have this weird taste on my tongue for months now, I have to get blood tests done but seeing if anyone has had this at all. It is kinda like a metallic taste, but also feels like my tongue has been burnt abit also dry mouth well more like a dry tongue. It had been suggested to me that old fillings can do this, my fillings are silver and about 10 years old, not sure exactlly what they are made of. My fillings do hurt when I chew but the dentist said they were fine and just to use sensative toothpaste. He also said my fillings are so shinny that he thinks I grind my teeth or clench them when I am sleeping. Maybe this is causing the taste, I just don't know. Sometimes this taste is really stong, light or not even there. Im getting really scared that there is something very wrong with my body and this is a symtom of something horrable that will cause me to die. Maybe I am over reacting, I am a big worrier!!! Any help would be great.

Metallic taste is a common symptom of mercury toxicity due to amalgam (silver) fillings. Check out http://noamalgam.com

Mercury leaches out of silver fillings and is exacerbated by high temperatures as well as grinding/abrasion. see http://www.iaomt.org

Amalgams are somewhat soft so if they are on chewing surfaces then there is a possibility of causing cracks in your teeth due to the uneven biting pressure. My dentist calls them "lead plungers" since he sees cracks due to amalgams quite often. So that could be causing your tooth sensitivity.

HTH!
