Too much Lanolin

Okay I had a butt sweater made out of cashmere I think that a friend made. It wasn't waterproof at all but she said it should have been. So she told me to lanolize it. I did it the way that OSDS says to. I dissolved (tried to anyways!) some lanolin in hot water then poured that into a basin of lukewarm water. I put the butt sweater in there and swished it around to get it wet. I had a lot of Lanolin on my hands so now there is WAY TOO MUCH lanolin on the butt sweater. I want to wash it to get some of it off but I don't want to get whatever load of wash I put it in with full of lanolin as well.

What should I do?? Or should I just let it dry and see how it feels then??

I hope I didn't ruin them since I am supposed to give them back when I am done with them!!!

you could try rinsing it again in hot water, maybe 2x, just try not to agitate it too much, cause you may cause it to felt (which means to shrink) next time just use a pea sized drop of lanolin per gallon or 2 of water.

Next time put a cup of water in the microwave and make it really warm, and mix in your lanolin with a tsp or so of baby wash. This soap will make the lanolin go into solution. Then mix this warm water in with the rest of your warm water and then add your wool.
