My microfleece doesn't seem to work

Arg,
I bought microfleece (I know it is, I saw the word microfleece on the bolt) from Joanns a few weeks ago for the inner layer of the pocket diapers I'm finally getting around to making. Anyway, I put some water on it just to make sure it would do what I thought microfleece is supposed to do, let water pass through and keep baby's skin dry, and the water just pooled there. That's great for an outer layer, but I wanted this one to go inside for a dry layer. Any ideas? I've heard materials respond differently to urine than to water, but I'm too lazy to sew the diaper as is and try it out, if it isn't going to work.
Has anyone else had this problem with water, but not once they put it on their baby?

The microfleece has to be compressed (by baby's bum). Then it will wick through just fine. If it said microfleece you should be good to go.

At the top of this forum page (in the section above where our posts show up), there's a thread about using water to test the wickability of fleece. It's very informative. Apparently water won't accurately show the wickability of fleece because it is so much different from urine. HTH!
