How do I find a midwife in a rural area?

We're moving from a well-populated area into a very, very, VERY rural area near Burley, Idaho. How do I find a midwife in that area?

I'm worried about not being able to find one, though I have time since I'm not due until mid-September.

I'd go to a nearest health food store and ask around. I'd bet they'd know of some mw's.

Post on the Idaho tribe, even though it is very rural, there may be one momma who lives there and knows. Find out if there is a LLL group in any of the nearby towns and ask the leader. When you move there, look for notices evrywhere you find a notice board, I've found MW's business cards stuck up in little bakeries, etc... I feel your pain, I live in a very rural area as well, I'm pretty up on the town happenings, and I still had to search to get a name of a HB MW. Also search the net, like www.waterbirth.org they have a listing of MW's, and I was able to find a listing a couple of years ago for one in my rural area. Good luck.

I used to live in Boise & know the midwives from http://www.treasurevalleymidwives.com/ Idaho's such a small state (in terms of population), I bet they'd know if/who serves that area. I bet there's someone from Twin, IF, or Pocatello...
