LOL! So after much consideration, I ordered the Darling Diaper pattern today - and can I say, I love the nearly-instant gratification of having the pattern sent to your email?
Anyway, printed that bad boy out and started cutting. I don't know how long it took me to actually make the diaper, what between my 5 yr old dd wanting to help and babbling in my ear, the thread that kept snapping (I've decided I must have gotten a bad spool), the needle that bent right after I said "Gee, maybe I should change that needle soon" and my 2 1/2 yr old who decided to spew up her orange juice a couple times. Yeah. Gross.
But I got it done. There are a couple wonky places b/c of the fabric getting caught up and breaking and I had to restart, but you can't tell from the outside b/c the thread blends in so well! And I serged the insert too quickly, so that thread's a little bunchy, but again, no one will see it, lol!
Dd had been asleep on the floor (on towels, just in case, lol) and woke up right after I finished it, so I got to try it on her and it fits just loverly! And it seems trim enough for my taste too.
Most of all, dh was mighty impressed. He thinks it looks just about as good as the professionals.
Mind you, I never sewed before I started sewing diapers. And this is the first I've done like this (I've been trying to serge them before now.)
The outer is a print pul that I bought last summer and have been afraid to use until now, then a layer of flannel inside, and the sewn in soaker is made of three layers of microterry with a layer of flannel on top. I also used extra bits of the pul to cover the velcro tabs.

I can't wait to make more of these! And then show them off and tell people "I MADE THIS!"
