NO WHERE in any of their shows is Ezzo or spanking endorsed.

I support then as a large family and as christians.

I have never spoken to them personally and therefore have NO CLUE how they discipline their children. I will not make assumptions and spew hate.

There are ways to abuse your children without spanking ... and your 'making assumptions' and 'spewing hate' thing seriously made my eyes pop out. I saw a few of your posts the other day and perhaps you meant to say "I will not make assumptions and spew hate as long as I agree with it, but if I disagree with it I'll do it".

Go back about 50 or 60 pages in the thread, and read the links. They did interviews, and said " they believe that not only does the Bible instruct them to spank, but tells them how to do it"

I am against almost everything these people stand for but I'm not against them as people.

Just because one takes issue with some parenting practices does not mean that one is biting another's head off.

I also believe there should be moderation in parenting methodologies but that doesn't mean that I'll accept practices such as spanking, blanket training, gender roles, teenaged siblings parenting, overworking teenaged children, or anything else that might come to mind.

When did the Duggars rise to the status of moderate on anyone's list?

Their pantry is the stuff of nightmares. I can't believe they are feeding their kids all that junk! Then again, I see similar stuff in people's carts at the grocery store, so I suppose that's just what lots of people like to eat. Scary!

I agree. All those processed foods can't be cheaper than unprocessed whole foods. I hope they at least garden for vegetables, it would be a good learning experience for the kids. And she does have the workforce to chop vegetables, and cook 'real' food, unlike us peons who have to do it all ourselves, plus childcare and housekeeping.

I'm sure we've discussed this further back in the thread though!

Angelbee - This post is just another reason why I love you and your thinking. I am very anti-Ezzo but I have a good friend who used it (modified) with her 6 kids and they are wonderful children. She knows I disagree with her but we are still friends. She is not evil in any way - just one of those people who loves schedules...people are so much more than their particular parenting method.

omg, i can't believe i read the whole thing! lol & i've never seen any of the shows about them. their website link still mentions blanket training (eww!!!!) btw.

other than making the older children parent the younger ones, & the abusive practices, my main problem with them is that their babies really have no chance to *be* babies. ds2 is 16 months & while i'd really ike our last child sonner than later, i look at him & how young & needy he still is & i just can't do that to him. i think every child should get time to be 'the baby', not just a few short months before they're handed off to older siblings & replaced.
