Decorative Outer Layer Fabric ?s

okay, as I'm waiting for my order of PUL, elastic, aplix, etc to arrive, I'm dreaming of all the pretty diapers I'm going to make for my two girls -- having never even SEEN a pocket diaper IRL!

What kinds of fun fabrics have you put on top of PUL -- cotton wovens, knits, or ??? Are there any special concerns with regard to wicking, any special tricks to putting it on?

thanks for helping me fill the time while waiting for my fabric... I'm going crazy here! :

I can't answer your question, I don't use PUL, BUT just wanted to say LOVE LOVE LOVE the directions for a Man-Tai!!! I'm gonna make a few of those and your directions look awesome and very detailed! Thanks!!!

If you layer anything over PUL be sure to bind it together with FOE. The FOE will keep moisture from wicking onto the print fabric layer.

Yup, I've done wovens to knits, and even jeans

oh-oh! I was planning on stitching and turning (but not topstitching). Would that be ok as long as I don't topstitch? I'm planning on using fleece or poly velour for the inner, so that wouldn't wick...

thanks -- you guys are wonderful!!

Thanks Candice -- folks over at TBW seem to have been happy with their results. I looove MTs for two shouldered carries (I can't carry all that weight on one shoulder in a RS or pouch), and the learning curve is not that steep. Please show off your pics when you've done -- I'd love to see them!

I think that might still wick even with the poly inner. It's not just the topstitching that promotes wicking, when the 2 layers are sewn together there will be some touching and that's where the moisture will wick from. The FOE keeps the wet inside from touching the fabric on the outside.
