Miles Samuel made his grand appearance at 7:21pm on March 1st. He was 7 lbs. 8 oz. and 21 1/2 inches long. He's a beautiful and ever so sweet babe
I woke at 5:15am for my early morning visit to the bathroom and in the process lost my mucous plug! I laid down next to DH and told him my body was effectively moving towards labor, but it could still be weeks before the baby would arrive. We snoozed and at 6:10am, I felt a stretching down low and a bit of a snap or pop - then the oozing liquid - my water broke! I called the midwife to bring her into the loop. Contractions started by 7am, and picked up in speed and duration over the next couple of hours. I hopped in the shower for relief and by the time I got out, they were a minute long and 2 1/2 minutes apart! We were at the hospital by 10am. Only had a slight tear after pushing for an hour and 20 minutes. I actually reached down to catch my baby as I delivered him - if you had asked me before the delivery, I would have told you I wasn't sure I wanted to do that, but in the moment, it felt so right. And I'm so glad I did! It was an amazing experience.
Our midwife was absolutely amazing and I will be forever indebted to her for her wise guidance and support. DH was an amazing coach, but he's an even more amazing father! Becoming parents has been a HUGE transition for us, but we are loving our son
Just a little PSA... Cloth diapers rock - they keep everything in so much better than the disposables... We did sposies for 4 days and practically had to change his clothes with ever diaper change. The huggies, pampers and generic brands ALL leaked with our little super soaker. DH and I looked at each other and realized that it was easier to do diaper laundry than it was to change his outfit, blanket, etc with EVERY poop and tinkle. Miles would get SO angry with every clothing change. We're sticking with gowns rather than sleepers - much easier to list the gown over his legs than to get him in and out of the sleeper legs...
He's sleeping well - nursing well - and fusses the normal amount. All in all, he's a wonderful baby and I couldn't ask for more!
He's due to wake up any minute to get his lunch. Must go - back later, mamas!
