That makes me feel a little better - I'm terrified of having twins. I can barely handle just ds some days. Not to mention our car will barely hold just 2 kids in carseats, let alone 3.

Our car *won't* hold three. Not at all. : My minivan will... if I ever get the thing back.

This might be a dumb question, but can't you call your insurance company and make them give you a replacement VAN for the interim?

I mean they should give you something comparable to your current auto and that means it should accommodate 3 carseats. For it not to means you're stranded. And it's pointless as a replacement vehicle.

I've got a Jetta Wagon. If my insurance company tried to give me some little two door car that wouldn't hold a carseat and my stroller (for example) I'd tell them no, I need at least a small wagon. Something comparable in size/capacity to what is being fixed.

Can you not do something like that?

I've been doing that since the 10th of February (the day after my van was rear ended). On the 28th, the s finally gave me a car-- a Nissan Sentra, which didn't even fit *two* carseats safely in the back. Three days later, I was given the Taurus, which "technically" met my needs because I could fit two carseats in the back and the thing has a 5 body trunk. Trouble is, it's designed for a very tall man to drive so it's got a gigantic seat and a massive steering wheel. The seat does not have an automatic adjuster, so I had to reach forward between my legs to adjust it at all (try doing that when you're 8.5 months pregnant) so that I could reach the pedals. As of Monday, I can no longer drive the Taurus because the steering wheel rests firmly against my belly if the seat is close enough for me to reach the pedals. So it no longer meets my needs. Not that the insurance company gives a . They're just "sorry for the inconvinience..."

Yeah, I can do that... but they don't give a damn, so it doesn't help.

I'm cursed.

www.bellywomen.net is a listing of doulas offering their services for free or low cost. If there is not one listed in your area you can alway contact www.dona.org or www.alace.org (I am sure there are more) to get a list of doulas working on certifications. They will often do births for low cost or free as well. There is also a great article called Dads and doulas on the DONA site.

Honey you need to get in touch with that inner bitch of yours and MAKE them give you an automobile that fits.

Call whomever you have to, crawl up that chain of command, but a woman in her 9th month of pregnancy should NOT be trifled with! Especially not when it comes to the SAFETY of herself and her children (including the unborn one).

I'd kick some arse if I were you. Make some not so veiled suggestions about legal requirements for carseat safety and how their cars aren't allowing you to be law abiding, etc., and how many days it's been since the accident, etc.

Really, make some noise. Even if it means driving the car to the insurance place and honking the horn until someone comes out to fix your problem.

Squeaky wheel and whatnot....

Sorry they're being such idiots. But I have no doubts you can rise to the occasion and get what you need. Good luck!

I agree! We found a low-cost doula for $300. It is still more than we can really afford, but since I want a hospital VBAC, I thought it necessary. She is great. She is low-cost because she is still pretty inexperienced. However, she has attended two VBAC births already and I am all for giving someone a shot to gain more experience. Our personalities clicked as well, so that is good.

Well I went for my weekly profile and appoitment today. I was so excited because my fluid level was up at the profile (YEAH!) then I headed to the doc, all the confidence in the world. When I got there the receptionist said the doc was sick but his wife (who is a RN) would do the basics if I wanted. So I decided to stay.
Well, first off I got on the scale and I had put on 5 lbs!! (I had been gaining about 1 lb a week up until this..) then I get in with the nurse and I tell her that I've been waking up in the night drenched in sweat (I mean really bad no matter what I do!) then she checks my urine and says it is showing protiens. Then I get up for my blood pressure and it's up. Then we talk...I have been having a lot of feet and hand swelling, I just chalked it up to "normal" pregnancy but she wrote it down anyway. Then she asked a few more questions and went and called her hubby (the doc) at home. I figured that wasn't a good sign.

Anyway she came back and said he wanted me to come in on Monday to see him. And if anything changes, swelling gets worse, heart races, that kind of thing to go right up to the hospital.
Then I decided to tell her that when I was pregnant with #1 I had high blood pressure and I remember seeing spots every once in a while. Well I've had those a few times this past week and I just chalked it up to standing up to fast or bending over to far or something like that. But she said probably not

So, now I have to rest this week-end (which in itself is not a bad thing) but I've got so much to do!

I know it doesn't mean anything for sure, I may get there Monday and be fine, but I guess all the symptoms together can't be a good sign, you know? And several times my heart would race and I'd wonder why and never thought too much about it, but after doing a little research on the web I guess it's another symptom.

Hope everyone else's week is going better than mine! And I am NOT in a hurry to have this child (even though I was the one saying I am taking EPO...that was just to help prepare my body, I WANT to go to 40 weeks or beyond!!! I would just like labour to be a little quicker/easier than the last two times

I found one also that is considered low cost for $250 (now I'm in Canada though...) and she has actually agreed to do it for cheaper. I haven't officially 'hired' her yet but I think I will this week-end

update

Aloha!!

Ok, I haven't posted in a real long time... but life has been very full!!
I do have a minute and wanted to post what has been going on lately. I will be 35 weeks tomorrow. I had an u/s on Tuesday and a mw appt yesterday. I had been measuring 4cm big and then I fell. I agreed to the u/s with much hesitation only because I did want to make sure baby was ok and especially that my fluids were good. I was hoping for this particular tech who has 25 years experience and sure enough I got her. She said baby was head down and measured around 5lb and 8 oz and all my fluids looked good the placenta was in a great location and things looked great! I was thrilled to know everything was okay. Then my mw measured me and lo and behold I am measuring right on. So all that then everyhting turns out to be okay!! Anyway, I was more than at happy to find out that my fall did not hurt the baby and my fluids were normal.

I meet with my doula tomorrow. I have a very busy week coming up but the week after will seem like a vacation compared to it.

I can relate to so many of the threads the last few weeks. I have been drinking red rasberry tea but the last post about it was that the infusion was the best way and that the bags or loose were not. And now I can't find it. Does anyone know what the outcome of that conversation?

Also, I used my husbands deodorant (the 'natural' crystal) for two days because I was out and now I have a itchy rash that is driving me near insane. I am using benadryl but man the itch....:

I went to Honolulu to the homeschool conference last Friday, Saturday and Sunday and had soooo much fun with 7 other moms, wow! After the conference we ate out and shopped and had such a great time. I missed my hubby and kids and was glad to see them but boy did we have fun!! I was even able to pick up a few things for after the baby that actually fit now!! Did I say how much fun it was?

Okay that is my update!
