Cloth Diapering HELP!! - Page 2

For someone starting out I'd go with pockets, like Swaddlebees, Fuzzi bunz or Apron strings, even AIO's, Valor kids are awesome AIO's, Bum-ware are too. I think those 2 are my faves..oh and Very baby too.

Okay - I got third, fifth, or whatever we are on the motion that you invest in pockets. If you are new to this, want a hassle free, friendly to everyone system that works pretty close to a disposable, then I would say go pocket. Fuzzibunz rock, the resale value is awesome if you don't like them, and they are friendly for even people that have never changed a single diaper. It is the simplest and easiest diapering system. Some people would argue if it's the most effective or budget friendly (it's not budget friendly if you are trying to go cheap, but you aren't so that's not an issue.) And the effectiveness will vary from kid to kid. But, most people can make them work for every kid, under every circumstance. You just gotta play with them a bit.

That being said, I don't think that you should pick one system and not at least TRY some chinese prefolds with diaper covers, or a fitted diaper with a diaper cover. These are also two great options. Chinese prefolds are very inexpesive, and the fitted diapers will hold in newborn poop really well for a lot of babies. The kissaluvs fitted size 0's are great with a diaper cover. And they will fit them from day one.

Well that's my .02

I know this is a way old thread, but I'd just add my thoughts. Since you have so many in dipes and DH seems to be resistant to the idea of CDing, be sure to make it as simple as possible. This is where I went wrong - buying too many different brands, styles, etc., and made it all too confusing and time-consuming. Also made it seem so much easier to just use 'sposies.

So, I'd recommend something one-size, either prefolds, fitteds, or AIOs (Wonderoos, BumGenius!, etc.). Or maybe some Kissaluvs 0s for the NB until he/she moves up to fitting better into the one-size.

Keep it simple, and you'll keep your sanity. Plus, you'll stay on the CDing wagon!
