Making pockets out of DD pattern?

Do I need to modify the pattern at all? I was comparing some pockets I have that I bought already made with the DD patern and it seems to be the exact same shape, and size. So I was wondering if I can just use the PUL for the outer fabric and microfleece for the inside and skip the rest - if it's gonna work?
Anyone tried this?

Should I still do the PUL bigger then the microfleece?

I assume you mean the AIO pattern, right? Yep, I have made them pockets. A really easy way to do this is make a slit in your microfleece 2 inches from the back and approx. 4 inches wide (you don't need to finish this since microfleece does not fray, but I usually zigzag it anyway). This slit will be where you stick in the insert, so make it big enough that your hand and insert will fit. But microfleece is stretchy so you can make it a bit smaller than normal. Then sew the inner and outer together with a straight stitch all the way around. You can turn through the slit in your microfleece inner. This is similar to how GADs make their pockets and it is a really easy way to do it.

I would make the PUL bigger so that it will roll in, but I have made pockets with the inner and outer the same and sewed the elastic on the PUL side and it rolled in pretty well so I did not have wicking. It is an extra step cutting the PUL a bit bigger, but it makes it look really nice. The DD pattern actually has both pattern pieces (for the inner and outer) so that takes out the guesswork.

So it is easier to make a PUL AIO pocket from the AIO pattern than an AIO fitted diaper. You can also make a fleece AIO pocket. And I really like making my AIO's with flannel or velour inners rather than microfleece. Cotton just feels so much nicer to me.

The Darling Diaper pocket fitted pattern is also really nice and you can make AIO pockets from that also. You won't go wrong getting either one of these patterns.

Thank you for your help!

I am working on this right now and even though the pattern gives separate pieces so that you could make the fleece narrower and the PUL wider, I am trying it with both sides cut to the wider width...I examined my SB and HH pockets and they appear to have both sides cut to the same width.

Also, I'm going to try sewing the elastic to the PUL side on one diaper (like the SB pocket) and to the fleece side on another diaper (like the HH pocket) to see if one is better than the other. The HH is designed to have the fleece roll OUT and they do this by sewing the elastic to the fleece side.

the DD fitted pocket pattern says that you can use it to make PUL pockets. It suggests sewing the elastic to the seam allowance instead of tacking it down and making a casing, but I like the way the casing looks and used it on all my pockets prior to getting the DD fitted pattern. I think it works really well.

I think it is a wicking issue isn't it?
Top stitching on non DWRd PUL.
I made some PUL pockets from the DD pattern, not used them yet,but I just t and T d them and it was fine
I guess you could also use FOE????

Yep, DD suggest not T&T or making elastic casing to decrease the chance of wicking, but that's never been a problem for me. I put them in the dryer for the first couple of washes and the holes seal up .

Good to know, Rachel! I was thinking of doing a topstiched casing like on the Fuzzi Bunz but was worried about that causing wicking, too. I like the look, so I'll give that a try on one of my pockets.

Blow dryer?

You might be able to use an iron, but I'm not sure or you could make one trip to the laundromat just to seal all your pockets
