Anyone made the Wee Weka newborn dipe?

I got my nb proraps in the mail yesterday and I decided to make some fitteds with an umbilical scoop in front. I got the pattern from the wee weka site with the umbilical scoop and I cut the fabric last night, but it looks sooooooo tiny! I can't imagine it fitting! I haven't sewn it up yet, I need some more elastic, but has anyone had good luck with this pattern? My dd was 8 lbs 8 oz, and this baby's a boy, so I'm thinking bigger! I think it would be nice to have a good fitting fitteds for the first week at least, I might only make a couple of them, at least to have something for that first dipe in the hospital. Maybe I can use it as a doll dipe! If nothing else, at least it will be super cute!

Did you make sure that the 1-centimeter square was actually a centimeter? I printed off a pattern from that site last night, and it was only 8 or 9 milimeters, which would make the pattern 10-20% smaller! There was some discussion here recently about how to get the pattern to print out correctly, but I haven't figured it out yet myself.

good thinking, i didn't actually measure, just eyeballed it. I'll have to check that today!

When I made the umb scoop wee weka, it was just a little bit bigger that my XS VB AIO (that I made into a t&t fitted). So, I didn't even think about measuring the box.

When you print the pattern you should make sure your printer isn't "printing to fit". The standard paper in NZ is just a little longer than our 8x11. Someone said to print it on legal paper to make sure you are getting the whole thing.

I have made a dozen and they are slightly bigger than the newborn Kissaluvs that I bought to compare them to. Did you use a 1/4" seam allowance?

i went straight to small for all my patterns ,for the real ones,i made a few n.b protocol and decided they looked mini!!
My last three children have been 9lbs at birth, and packed weight on fast afterwards,so I guess that this time this one will follow suit,if not i have a few ImSE VIMSe shaped pre folds and terry squares,to see us throught he first few weeks, but my own pattern for my first size is a bit between most newborn and smalls when the snaps are on smallest setting!
It is a pain, trying to figure out what to make for a newborn isn't it?
