Explosive poo and gassy tummy

The other poo thread got me to wondering if anyone has experience with what Carys goes through every day. She almost always has explosive farty poo. Often she'll cry before or after a series of poops. The consistency of her poo is perfectly normal for a breast fed baby. It's just how they come out. Is it normal for a baby to always have these explosive poopy farts and tummy bubbles?

I've tried eliminating various foods including milk products (for 4 weeks with no effect), caffeines, gassy veggies like cabbage, onions, garlic, etc. I've even tried taking wheat out of my diet. Nothing has any effect on either her gassy tummy or explosive farty poops.

We bought Ovol drops for the gas but I'm not sure they're working. She screams for a good half hour after we administer the drops and there's no huge improvement in her digestion.

Your poor baby! DS seems to have painful farts and gassy guts, too. Not the explosive poo, though. I have no advice, just sympathy =/

ava almost always has those explosive farty poops but seems gassy FAR less often than she used to. like 1/5 the amount. i was using gripe water about a month ago to jumpstart her digestive system and she's been great since then. i hope Carys' gas issues are resolved soon even just with age...it seems that it happened that way with Ava.

I think that is pretty normal, but I can't be sure since both of my boys have had other digestive issues as well. I know that explosive poo is normal for bf'd babies. Both of my boys have had very gassy tummy's, but that is at least in part caused by their reflux. The Dr. was telling me that some babies just have a hard time adjusting to digesting food and expelling waste after delivery. It can take months for their digestive tracts to fully develop I guess. Gripe water has helped tremendously this time around. I wish I had know about it with ds1.

Thanks for the support & advice, everyone. I was using gripe water when she was a newborn with limited success. The Ovol drops do seem to be making a difference. I skipped them yesterday & she was much worse.
