Can you say Ouch?????

I got this brilliant idea yesterday that I should go get a bikini wax. I have never had one before. I thought it would make me feel good, especially since I can't see down there for myself anymore and I DO care what it looks like! LOL

Well, the girl was great, it didn't hurt that much doing it and I left feeling fine. Then about 1 hour later I could barely walk with my pants on!! I am now down to a skirt with no undies and it still hurts like hell!!! Why did I do this to myself?
And as I'm getting it done I say something about it lasting 6-8 weeks, she informs me that it doesn't last that long for everyone, sometimes only 1-2 weeks! WHAT!!! I did not go through this for it not to last until the birth!

LOL, thanks for the warning, I was actuallty considering doing it too and I never have. I just cant see down there and know I must be pretty scary LOL.

1-2 weeks! Crappy. I've been so tempted to go get one done, I love a almost completely clean shaven area, and have been toying with the idea of getting waxed. If it only lasts a week, that's discouraging.

I've never heard of it hurting worse after the procedure - yikes. Now I'm hesitant to go get one.

Getting a bikini wax while very pregnant is a bad idea b/c you are retaining water and this makes it very painful and also likely to bruise. You can wax in the 1st trimester but after that, no good! It should last, though. Too late for you, sorry.

I just found this under "new posts" but thought I'd pipe in. Bikini waxes don't work as well at first. It takes a while for the hairs to all synchronize and grow back in at once, so after repeated bikini waxes, they start lasting longer and longer.

At least that is the explanation I got.

i was thinking about getting one done soon too. I've done it regularly, though, and had it done last about 2 months ago. it doesn't bother me much, but i'm only 2 wks away from my due date and wonder if it will be too painful. the lady I go to told me that the last time she had waxed a pregnant lady, she was in labor by the end of the day... but she was due around that time anyway...

it gets better after you've done it awhile. and starting during pregnancy is not the greatest - even during your period and when you're retaining water is a bad idea.

as for the ichy and scratchy sensations. get some mild astringent and use it on your waxed areas, next take a loufa or other mildly rough textured item - a washcloth may even be enough and wipe against the grain or how your hair grows. this will help loosen any ends already popping up and will keep the openings of the hair follicles open.

considering this was your fist time your person should have told you these things. never were tight clothing the first day of a waxing and i've found the astringent (mild) a life saver.

if you ever do facial threading you'll need to do the astingent afterward - just an FYI. facial threading is great! but painful - it's an asian method of removing all hair from your face - you'll be red for a day and may break-out if you don't use the astringent immediately - so take some with you.

Well I am use to being neat down there. So the other night while in bed,it was driving me crazy to be untidy down there. So I got out of bed and tokk a shower and shaved. I tried using a mirror to see while shaving...impossible. So I just started shaving blindly. At the same time thinking about blood gushing everywhere or cutting a very sensitive area down there. At that moment I just started crying, my husband came in to see what was wrong. I told him, he laughed and walked away. A minute later he came back undressed and came in and shaved for me! I thought that was so sweet and started crying. Emotional pregnant woman for sure

Interesting info... I was actually thinking about this, but I don't think I will. I am already really swollen from the waist down and I'm sure it would be excrutiating for me!

I do my own, and MAN I can NOT wait to get to start again. I kept it up til about maybe 15 weeks, and it just hurt too much. Now I um, cant see anywhere near there...... but I do keep it trimed... heehee.

I had a bikini wax only once before a vacation when I was not pregnant. Two friends of mine had encouraged me to do it, saying it didn't hurt too much and it was so worth it. Well, it hurt so bad I almost didn't let the woman finish it! I was red and blotchy and swollen for a week - not better than razor bumps imho. And afterward each of the two friends who had encouraged me told me her story about how when they were young teenagers their mothers had either forced or tricked them into doing it for the first time and how much it hurt and how humiliated and betrayed they felt. One of their mothers sat outside the room laughing with her friends each time her daughter screamed! Well, I hope their getting me to do it helped them to heal from that in some way.

Anyway, lovely of me to share that with you, I know. I know waxing works really well for some people. But I'll never do it again. Ice was my salvation that night.

Weird, mine lasted for months my first time. Guess I was lucky!

I love getting waxed (I go for the full monty ) but everyone is different! I think the skill of the aesthitician is a huge factor too (& obviously, swollen preggo skin )

Oh, good lord. That makes me physically ill. Who, on this freaking earth, would get their YOUNG TEENAGE DAUGHTER a freaking bikini wax??!? I guess it's never too early to teach women to be ashamed of their bodies. That makes me want to just yarf.

Maybe some people just can't get anything waxed. I can't. I have very sensitive skin, and maybe I'm a hypocrite who is ashamed of her (ugh) occasional face hair issues, but the one time I waxed.. no thank you. Months of healing. I can't IMAGINE doing that to the bikini area! Shaving what needs to be shaved works just fine... well, it *IS* trickier now, in that area, that's for sure, but I'd never let anyone in some salon wax that area when I'm pregnant. I just don't think it's very sanitary, and god forbid you get a staph infection in that area when you are pregant. Or a lot of *ingrown hairs* that then get infected... ugh.

Yeah, trimmers are good. Cause you can at least clean up without the fear of hurting yourself.

I have some kind of phobia of professional waxing. Somehow I think it hurts more too to have someone else do it. Yikes.

Don't be too confident on that one lol. I used the trimmers with the guard on, and still ended up nicking myself down there. Then for the rest of the day my stomach flipped everytime I wiped since I would forget and think I had a "bloody show" and baby wasn't nearly done cooking
