plastic snaps vs. metal snaps on clothing

Ok, so I decided that I want a snap press. I'm doing the research, deciding which one, where to buy it, etc. I want to put a few snaps on some wool diaper covers. I understand why the plastic snaps are better than the metal snaps on diaper stuff. But, I have also been making childrens' clothing and want to put snaps on some of the stuff I'm making. I am considering trying to sell some of the clothes, so I really want to be sure I am doing the right thing. All the store-bought clothes I have for my daughter have metal snaps. Are metal snaps more durable, longer lasting? Should I be putting metal snaps on clothes rather than plastic - I'm making jumpers, over-alls, light-weight jackets, etc.

Metal snaps seem to be more expensive. Can someone enlighten me about what is better?

Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing. I know this post is old... but any responses?

I've never researched snap presses (just coveted from afar!), so I don't know about the mechanics. But I wonder if there is one press that can use both metal and plastic snaps? Even if it costs a bit more initially, it might be worth it. I make baby and children's clothing in my home business, and so far I am setting snaps by hand - slow, unprofessional, and the dreaded step in every garment. I look forward to hearing responses - maybe I deserve a late Xmas present!
