Hi everyone! Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a soon-to-be first time mom and I'm really young (19) and really inexperienced with kids! I've hardly changed two diapers in my life. Anyway, I was feeling so overwhelmed by all the things that could go wrong, and I was spending a lot of time at www.babycenter.com, but I found this site while I was researching cloth diapers (I really wanted to try, because disposables just seem unpleasant to me... I mean, the smell of them makes me start sneezing if I'm around it too long, and my baby will be pure and fresh and delicate, so why would I put him in those things? Plus, cloth is sooo much cuter!) anyway, I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to learn the skill of cloth diapering, but coming here has really helped. Plus, I'm learning about all sorts of other things, like slings (ordered some sling rings in the mail and will be making a sling as soon as they arrive) and unique sleeping arrangements (currently sort of thinking I just want to use a mattress on the floor next to my bed for baby to sleep in).

So I know this post is just one big long babble, but I just wanted to say how great this site is. Everyone is so helpful and not in your face trying to say there is one right way to raise a baby - that's what bugs me so much about other people who I ask advice from (for example, I don't need a crib, even though there are millions of people worldwide not using one!).

This is a great community. Hope to get to know you all better!

And don't worry, we are all young here. Well maybe young at heart for some of us incl me! But you sound like you have an old soul and I wish you the best over the next few months making way for baby!

And, like Amy said, I have the feeling you will fit right in around here ... I have found MDC to be a great place for those of us who parent out of the mainstream ... there are various levels of "crunchiness" but all seem to be accepted and I know that I learn something new or get exposed to a new idea or thought almost every day

And, don't worry about being nervous to use cloth ... I didn't with number one and am pretty nervous about doing with number two, but I have found that asking lots of questions and all the support here are making it easier to just take the plunge, you know?

LOVE your son's name, BTW! Those are 2 names I suggested for this baby, and DH wasn't having it That's okay, I'm loving the one we chose.

I'm so glad you found us. I pop in on babycenter from time to time to see how people outside my circle view birth (I'm a chilbirth educator, I like to think about how I can best help people see the light), but really it just makes my blood boil! Kinda like watching A Baby Story, I'm on restriction... DH won't subscribe to TLC because it would be unhealthy for me

Awesome to see you're into CD and slings. I made my first sling with dd and am working on 2 new one's, I'm nowhere near brave enough to try making my own CD though!

I am not aloud to watch bringing home baby for the same reason. I do not reccomend it, it will send you into early labor.
