Teaching a class about sewing baby carriers

Hi, I have been asked casually a couple of times if I would teach some moms at church how to make slings or other (mei tai) baby carriers in a class format. I have offered these services to the women's organization, and probably will do so with my friend (teach the class).

I know with the free online patterns it's OK to use it to make a baby carrier for your own use. I would be unpaid for the classes, and the moms would just make the baby carriers for their own use. I don't think I'd be violating any copyrights/rights to the instructions if I adapted these, not ever for any profit. Does that sound right?

Also, I'd love any input on putting the classes together--probably 2-3 sessions, and suggestions for putting together instructions. Probably beginning sewers.

I think it should be fun! I'd cross-post this to babywearing if I could--I can't figure out how to cross-post.

Try the Rev Jan website. She is very friendly and helpful. When I contacted her once about producing of her her slings she said I could do it for sale as long as I let people know it was her pattern and didn't claim it as my own.

I wanted to teach a class on a basic sampler quilt. I found a free pattern, but it said that it was only for personal use and not to be used in groups without permission. I simply emailed the pattern creator with the entire situation (no-fee church class), and she gave her permission for me to use it with proper credit of cource. I think it'd be polite to ask.
