I just came across this forum, looking for a parenting forum, and thought it looked friendly and helpful. I'm a single mom of a 9yr old son, Austen, but am in a serious relationship now since 1 1/2 years ago. My son and I have been through a lot, his father has not really been in his life since he was three (besides the past year his step mom has been helping to send gifts and cards). Luckily my family is the best and reassured my son over and over again, that they are there for him, right beside me.
It has been so tough to be careful with dating while being a single parent, but I've been as careful as possible as to who I date or who and when they get to meet my son. But I lucked out now with my boyfriend who is a wonderful person, and fits into the complicated position of boyfriend of mommy for my son. He does soooo much for and with him, but doesnt try to be his dad (besides putting his foot down on certain issues to help me). My son and I have never been better and happier.
The struggles I have been through, and continue to go through with our situation, I have needed to reach out for help and information. So I am very excited to have found this, and hope this forum can be useful in improving my parenting and help with dilemnas that arrise.
