I *adore* bluegrass, but I have none. Mom and I used to go to a festival in the mountains, and I've tried to get DH to take me to one here... but that's it.

Gimme some good recs for -- oh, ideally, one Great album.

TIA!!!

I am a selective blue grass fan haha. Where I live we have a bluegrass gathering every Friday night with local musicians and it can get a little hardcore Appalachia at times (I'm talking people with no teeth in overalls stomping around). But I adore Nickel Creek and would highly recommend, even to non-bluegrass fans. This one's my fave, though I admit I don't own the newest one so can't say if it might be better: Nickel Creek

I have just one bluegrass album but I adore it - it is Bluegrass Invasion by Bluegrass Invasion. Ok I'll admit, these are the guys who did Man of Constant Sorrow for the O Brother movie, but there is some serious picking on this album.

Is link to the Wright Family's CD's, and I LOVE THEM! They are dulcimer players and get together with other musicians for these productions. My favorite is "The Old Country Church", but I also enjoy "Masters of the Wooden Nickel". Most of their CD's do have singing~is old time music considered bluegrass? Depends on who you talk to, I think.

I also have a few CD's that were just cheap compilations from K-Mart~we all adore one called "The Best of Banjo Music". (((((HUGS))))) and tell us what ya get!!!!! ~sandi

I love "The Rough Guide to Bluegrass" and also a great Smithsonian Folkways compilation album of bluegrass. And anything with Alison Krauss!!!!!

Allison Kraus is my fav, but she's a little more mainstream. I have most of her albums. I have a favorite, but can't remember the title of it at the moment.

I don't really know if it's bluegrass. It's more like folk country to me. But I really like Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion.

I also really enjoy Nickel Creek! How could I have forgotten them? I have their "Nickel Creek" CD. There was another I couldn't wait to share, but now I've forgotten it.... (((((HUGS))))) sandi
