We welcomed our baby boy Zeke into the world one week ago on Monday March 13.
Somewhere after midnight I felt a small trickle and then huge gush as my water broke. While excited and nervous, I also felt a little disappointed as we were still holding out for the stubborn breech baby to flip and had scheduled a c-section as a last resort for March 17. Also, I was in the process of revising my birthplan and then going to pack my bag, but had to move a little faster than I anticipated! After taking a shower and throwing a ton of stuff into my suitcase -- dripping the whole time and animals following me around the house!!! -- we took off for the hospital.
At the hospital, the mw confirmed my water broke (as if I needed that) and she could feel the baby's ankle at my cervix. Within one hour I was prepped for surgery and he was born by 4:10 AM: 8 lbs 11 oz and 19 inches.
My husband was a phenomenal guardian for me and the babe and I can't say how much I appreciate him. The surgery was easy and recovery has gone really well, but I will be SOOOO happy never to be in a hospital or have surgery again. We got to come home on Thursday and me and Zeke have been learning about each other since then. It's been challenging at times and it wasn't quite the birth experience that I dreamed of, but I feel blessed to have the baby here with us and blessed to have so much love and support from our families and friends. Thanks to you all as well -- even though I was more a lurker than anything else, this was a great place to be through the past few months.
