Under the Radar Roll Call

After reading the thread about what kind of portfolios unschoolers use if their state requires it I am wondering how many of us here are under the radar.

We are. DS has never been to school (he did go try out pre-school 2 days a week, but it's not tied to the board of ed or anything) so he isn't on any lists.

When I read some of the requirements around the States and Canada I feel so lucky that we're not having to participate in any - I wouldn't know what to do if I needed to - I am awful at consistently journalling and at keeping records.

Anyone else out there?

Hello! Well, I live in Connecticut, so - we don't HAVE to go to before a school board....but, the Politicians are constantly trying to change our laws - so, I guess I live under the radar in the fact that I pray they don't even know my kids exsist (the school board that is).......I sometimes have nightmares of a truency officer showing up at my door.....I don't journal either. But, I have alot of scrapbooking pictures showing us doing work (lol) - I bet the police would appreciate that....

We were under the radar in Arizona for a while, because I was trying to maintain California residency and because I knew that the penalty for not registering was very light - I think you then had to register and maybe there was a possible nominal fine?

We've also homeschooled in California and here in Kansas, and both states have a private school option... so technically we're not homeschooling; my daughter attends a private school with one student and small private schools are unregulated.

If you do chose not to register, please be sure to research the penalties in your state, so you know what will happen if you are "caught".
