Odd question for ya'll- "punching & pinching" sensation straight down?

Ever since last night, I keep getting these totally random "punching" or "pinchy" sensations - really hard to explain- straight down and concentrated on my cervix. It takes my breath away and sends a wierd feeling through my whole body.
I keep feeling like I donno, something is going to pop or something is happening when I feel it... Is this just wishful thinking?

I got some of those, I figured it was the baby's head being *right there* and him wiggling putting pressure down there. Dunno if that's what yours if from but for me that's what it seemed like.

I got that too, the whole last month - sharp pinch down low inside. I told the OB, he insisted it was pubic symphysis but I could tell it wasn't, it was more cervix. It was worse when I walked. Your baby is maybe dropping lower?

Not in your due date club, but I happened to see the thread title, and it sounded so familiar! I know EXACTLY what you mean....I always said it was my babe kicking me in the cervix. (You should have seen the looks on people's faces when I said that.) Whoo, it makes you freeze in place and lose your breath for a minute! It could be the head, but both my girls were breech (literally never head down), so I always figured it was a foot or an elbow.

Thing is, She is confirmed head down by the doc...

ah well- at least I know Im not alone!

Does it put a little hop in your step if you're walking? That's what I get. My midwife said it's probably the baby hitting a nerve. She also said one of her moms described it as "Pregnancy Tourettes"....thought that was a good name for it!
