OUCH! Help please! (related to bf'ing)

I have a white pimple looking thing on my left nipple. Man, does it hurt. I tried warm compresses (ie warm wet washcloth) right before nursing ds, but it's not going away. I swear it hurts worse than my labor did - it's a horrid, horrid pain. I'm guessing it's a clogged milk duct ????

Any suggestions on getting it to clear up?

I'm hurting over here!!!

I woke up with it this morning. It was uncomfortable nursing that side last night, but I figured it was because ds had a bad latch - and I was really tired and didn't fix him everytime last night - but I don't think it's a latch problem ???

Hey Betty Ann,

That sounds like a raised blister from feeding. I got these on both nipples when I let baby feed with a bad latch. The best way to deal with it is just to perservere and make absolutely sure your latch is good. In one instance my blister went away on it's own. In the other instance, it popped and peeled and then went away after about 3 days. It was uncomfortable, but with a good latch it didn't hurt too much. Latch is EVERYTHING, imo.

Ohh a blister! I've had one before and its painful mama. Just do the best you can to keep nursing through the pain and be sure the latch is good. Hopefully it will go away soon!

I read about something like you descibed in one of my breastfeeding books. It said it is a plugged duct and to pop it or squeeze it out like a pimple, but get it hot first with a compress. It sounds horrible, I wish you luck and am sending you healing energy!
