Recommendations for Montessori programs in San Jose area

Hello,

I am new to this board and would like to start my son in a Montessori program in the fall, when he is 3. Does anyone have any recommendations for good preschool programs in the Los Gatos/Campbell/San Jose area? I have looked at several schools, specifically Mariposa Montessori, Casa di Mir, One World Montessori, Tomorrow Montessori, and Montesssori Academy, and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of them. Thanks in advance.

I toured One World and Casa di Mir for first grade. I didn't like the outdoor play equipment at One World. Broken swings and I believe the slide was off code for being too high. I toured May 2003. My dd attended Casa di Mir for first grade but transferred due to time outs being implemented during recess time. I am not familiar with the other schools. If you want more information, please PM me. My children attended Montessori preschool in Mountain View.

My son attends Aguirre Family Montessori pre-school in Santa Clara, and we love it. We interviewed One-World Montessori, but it seemed too hardcore Montessori for our son, who was 2 when he started at Aguirre. Aguirre is a small school that uses what I consider a flexible Montessori approach. The kids do "jobs" and learn to do a lot of things on their own, but also have plenty of time for free, group, and fantasy play. The owner and head teacher, Jennifer, is really fantastic and both our son and we are constantly learning from her. She really cares about and understands how to best support each child's growth. The website is: http://aguirremontessori.org/

Tomorrow Montessori

My sons attend Tomorrow Montessori. My oldest started when he was 2.5. I really love the education and foundations he has received at the school. Currently, he's in the Kindergarden classroom. There's not a lot of teacher turn over. As a matter of fact for the almost 3 years I've been there, the main teachers have all been the same. My favorite part of this school is the director is hands on with the kids. I think she really loves teaching and being with them. My youngest is 10 months and is in the infant room. Same experience...the staff don't really turn over, they seem to enjoy what they do, they're caring and loving. Hope this helps.
