Animals acting different?

Hi All,

As I get nearer to my due date and my belly gets bigger, my two male cats are getting more and more cuddly. There are some outside circumstances that probably are contributing: they're no longer such young kittens, they've been neutered, they started going outside. But when I was pregnant with daughter #1, I lived with a lady with a great dane and he always wanted to be near me and was protective of me. So, I think there's some animal instinct stuff going on too. What do you think? Anyone else's pets acting/ed extra lovey during your pregnancy?

Definitely!

My 2 male cats are always trying to get on my lap and give me kisses lately. It's starting to drive me nuts. I love them and it's sweet but I'm feeling crowded.

I hope when the weater is a little better it will distract them with other things to do.

Not pg now, but my eldest bitch used to tell me when I was pg, she would hover around like mother hen. When pg with dd 13 mo, one of my other dogs was nurse maid and she just about tore the place apart trying to get inside while I was birthing, she was introduced to dd when babe was only hours old and she is awesome with her now.

I had three male cats when I was pregnant with DD. OMG the last month they would NOT leave me alone for anything, I couldn't even pee by myself.

It was worse when I was in labor, though, they kept climbing all over me, licking me, rubbing on me. I felt bad, but I ended up having my ex lock them in the bathroom until we were ready to leave because with every contraction I got an urge to launch them across the room

OMG! that is so funny!!!!

I can't go pee either without the little guys running in there and meowing. My dh witnessed this last week and asked me if I give them treats when I pee or something, why else would they act that way. Yeah right!

I have an embarassing story: my cat Cassie was also very attentive during the last few weeks of my pregnancy. During the birth she hid somewhere or played with our moms. But afterwards she started acting strange... more lethargic, begging for dinner, and I swear she was giving me dirty looks. So last night when she started drinking out of the TOILET, I got it -- her water dish (one of those self-feeders) was bone dry!!! I feel so guilty. Anyway, she's back to her own cuddly self.

My dog knew before I did that I was pg , wouldn't let me out of his site!

Yeah, it's pretty amazing the intuition animals have. My cat was different throughout both of my pregnancies, and she adores the babies, too.

My dog Willow has had some behavioral issues the entire 6 years of her life (she was beaten as a pup before I got her, so she's a bit neurotic anyway). The first few months of my pregnancy, she just started going so insane. My vet put her on valium for a 2 week period, which made no difference, so we figured her problem was behavioral, not physical (we stopped the valium....I'm not really into drugging my dogs in the first place). After my pregnancy progressed a bit, she has calmed down a lot. I think now she seems more in tuned with what is going on.

The last couple of days she's been really watching me and licking my hands more than normal. I sure hope she senses something!

Our Sitka seems oblivious, but what else do you expect from a boy? LOL

The day I had the baby my dog followed me around endlessly looking all worried...I couldn't figure out what was the matter with her. She is usually pretty assertive, so it was weird for her to be timid and nervous. I guess she somehow knew what was coming. Now that the baby is here she is still acting very timid, like she thinks she might have done something bad. The cats are scared to death of the baby - they huddle up in the corner looking miserable.
