Homefirst?

What kind of insurances do they take and how far do they travel?

I emailed them these questions, but was told I need to set up an appointment to have them answered.... I don't really want to make an appointment with them if it's not covered by insurance.

Hmmm, I know they take Blue Cross Blue Shield. When ds2 was born we had a different insurance company & it was $1500 for prenatals, birth and the first 6 weeks. I go to the Naperville office & I think they go as far west as Dekalb.

HTH!

Fogot to tell you - the first appointment (an evaluation to see if you want to use them) is free.

If you go to their website, it gives a brief statement of the plans they are covered under.

I know they take :

Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois
United Healthcare (PPO)

I think you have a better chance if your insurance is some kind of PPO or something where you can choose your doctor and don't need to be referred.

I would call your insurance first and see if they are covered, then take it from there.

As far as travel, I believe they'll go to all the NW suburbs, the western suburbs and some of Chicago.

I'm in the process of trying to switch to them at 28 weeks, as finally, our insurance DOES cover them. It's a miracle!

I'm 90% sure they'll do a free consultation, where you get to ask them all the questions you want.

Also, they'll definitely tell you if they take your insurance over the phone.

Be double triple sure to get all of the costs upfront.
We learned the hard way.

Homefirst will do a free initial consultation. We just did this a couple of months ago. You'll have to work out all the insurance stuff with someone over the phone, though. My sweet, sweet DH spent a fair amount of time going over everything with them; our ins has one of the new health savings accounts, andthat seemed to throw them off a bit. But at least we got it all worked out ahead of time.
