Help my poor kid! Bad breath question...

The little guy has the worst breath I have ever seen (ok not see but smelled ) on a kid. It is bad bad bad! Anyone out there know tricks to get rid of it? Scrapping the tongue will not work- he has a gag reflex that makes just brushing his teeth tricky.

Tto

A lot of the moms here have used Tea Tree Oil Squirt to reduce bacteria in the mouth and that might also help halitosis...

8 drops of tea tree oil to 8 ounces of water in a spray bottle.

A few squirts throughout the day might help reduce the bacteria that is causing the bad breath

My bad breath went away when I (mostly) stopped eating sugar (and it wasn't decay related or anything). So if he drinks a lot of juice, eats white (or whole grain made with "wheat flour") bread, eats crackers, etc, etc, cut down significantly on those for a while and see if it helps. Another potential dietary cause is pasteurized milk and products thereof.
HTH!

You didn't say, but have you talked to a dentist or had him to a dentist? It could be a sign of decay, especially if he's not brushing well (you said it was tricky to brush his teeth). Before I tried to kill the smell with something, I'd take him to a dentist to make sure his teeth aren't rotting! And also consider it could be a sign of something else going on internally. I would get it checked it out.
