Mine are 500 mg too. I started taking them at 34 weeks upon my MW's recommendation. Started 3 tabs once a day, then at 37 weeks upped it to 3 tabs twice a day.

In a few weeks I'll be taking 500mg/ day. Right now I'm taking mag-calc to stop the ctx But as soon as I'm around 37 weeks, I'll stop that and start the EPO!

Dumb question, but what does the EPO help with?

Thanks!

It helps to soften/ripen your cervix. Not dilate nor efface, typically, but just soften. You can take it orally or vaginally.

Thanks, Renee!

It varies, depending on how much I think about it...

I have 1000 mg capsules, and I'm taking 2-3 on an average day. Some days I just forget!

I only use one vaginally if DH is not up to the task of providing prostaglandins the fun way.

I've never heard of this. Is it something I should be aware of?

I started at 36 with 1500 mg/day orally. At 37 went to 2000 mg/day, but only because I forgot to take the 3rd dose....for the past few days have been taking 2000 mg/day.

I really hope it works. My OB (who is not against natural remedies--he was 1000% in favor of using castor oil for a slow labor with my first) recommends against things like black and blue cohosh because of uterine rupture risks. Considering I am trying to VBAC I don't want to put myself behind the 8-ball to start.

As of a week ago my cervix was shut up like Fort Knox. Hopefully things will be different on Wednesday when I get checked again.
